Has anyone asked why the GOP is running the Wright ad NOW in Carolina?
Why now? What's the point? Are they trying to make sure Hillary is the nominee?

1. Of course
McCain has also reportedly told his staff "hands off" Clinton.

Its clear who they want to run against.

15. They did ask and the "feed was lost"
Then when they got it back she gave some bullshit non-answer that the press ate up.

Basically saying that it was aimed at the candidates in the state and that they are supposed to denounce comments they never heard by a man they never met who preached at a church they never attended.... basically.

23. the local dems love him because he's GREAT for the down ticket and is registering voters
Obama has the most sophisticated voter reg ads that go beyond
anything our NC state board of elections does.

Our voter reg is way up, his people work their asses off, we work our
asses off because he inspires us.

3. It's a win-win. If they can make Clinton the nominee, they win...
... if not, they've already got a jump on Obama.

It's extra-nice that McCain gets to work in concert with the Clinton campaign tho.

6. That's what they did to Dean, too. But I don't think it's going to work
this time. Obama seems to have broader support than Howard did. Not to mention, he profits from Dean's experience.

9. Me neither. The republicans are one-trick ponies without a lot of options this year....
... And it's good for Obama to get practice running against a republican campaign via Clinton. So we should be all good. The only fly in the ointment is the American electorate. One might think they've learned from bush 2x, but that would be betting against the stupidity of the American people, which is a tough sell - as we learned from the fuckwit Connecticut electorate.

So "cautious optimism" seems to be where I land.

34. I have faith in people. People have had it up to HERE with Republican
cronyism and incompetence.

They are reg'ing Democrat in droves all over the country.

Even our insular psycho drama won't change that.

We'll be fine. :)

13. The rethugs are not stupid when it comes to negative attacks
The place to help Clinton would be Indiana, a state she could win. This is to increase black turnout and give Obama a sympathy bounce overall in NC in the hope that a big win in NC knocks her out.

26. I'm sorry but that explanation is insane. It's simpler than that
they want to damage potential dem candidates and they want the dem dance to continue dividing the party. Back away from the bong, bot.

30. The winning strategy for Obama
would have been to NOT over react to the ad, or at least not calling it racist. They should have poked fun at it...saying how desperate the repubs are to run against Hillary. Contemplate how much free air time the GOP got from news stations airing it? And McCain gets to look like a Saint for condemning it.

... when they're trying to get white people on their side for something.

That's not a lesson Obama needs teaching.

4. They are running the ad against the two democratic candidates for governor
these two candidates endorsed Barack Obama, and Barack Obama attended the church at which Rev. Wright was pastor. There was a brief interview on NPR yesterday with a spokeswoman from the NC GOP. The interview may be available online. It was really amazing to hear her talk. I would be mortified with embarrassment if I were a rebublican from NC - it was truly awful.

secondly, they're trying to hurt dem candidates who endorsed Obama and thirdly they'd like to keep the shit stirred.

11. They want to help Obama
1) By jacking up black turnout in NC (this is why Obama always plays the race card before primaries with large black populations. He knows he is going to win but he wants maximum turnout so he can gain more delegates with a bigger margin of victory.)

2) Increasing the sympathy vote for Obama across the board, especially with whites. When the opposing party attacks someone in your party people close ranks and rally behind the member of their team.

The notion they are doing this to help Clinton win NC doesn't make sense. She can't win NC given its demographics (how can she win when Obama has margins of 21:1 among blacks?). If they wanted to help her win they would do something in Indiana.

...then we're going to war with Iran.

We'll have control of both houses and the prez while the country needs a pick me up and the USSC is up for grabs, that scares the dog snot of of neo-Clowns

I can't say I have all that much hope about that, though, to be honest. :(

our nominee minimizes the huge fund-raising advantage we have.
