Obama Campaign Confirms Joint Fundraising Committee With The DNC (PLUS, 50 State Registration Drive)

AND the campaign announced a fifty state registration drive....

Obama Campaign Confirms Joint Fundraising Committee With The DNC
By Greg Sargent - April 25, 2008, 2:15PM
Obama spokesperson Bill Burton just confirmed to me that the campaign has set up a joint fundraising committee with the Democratic National Committee, a development that was first reported today by Mark Halperin.

The move is unusual in the sense that it's typically the sort of thing that's done once there is a nominee.

That the DNC has done this with Obama before the contest is settled reflects two realities: First, that Obama is the likely the nominee; and second, that McCain is forging ahead with the building of a campaign apparatus while the two Dems continue to pour resources into an intra-Dem contest with no immediate end in sight.

"This is an effort to be a team player and make sure we have the resources we need," Burton says.

The joint committee can raise cash in far larger chunks than candidates -- they can take in $28,500 from individuals, more than 10 times the $2,300 contribution limit for candidates.

Similar discussions are ongoing between Hillary and the DNC, but no deal has been struck yet, Halperin reports.

1. Do you think Hillary might have the balls to run as a third party
candidate? (oh shit, now I'm a misogynist because I said balls and hillary in the same sentence). That thought has been keeping me up at nite lately! :scared:

2. Don't worry, I'm a misogynist woman because I call Hillary a whore for the MIC.
No, she won't go third party. She's happy destroying the party from within.

19. Where would she get the money?
She can barely get Dems to give her money, why would the remaining liberals and moderates give her money as a 3rd party candidate... when they are totally free to give her money NOW. Which they aren't.

3. Clintons and the media have known since Super Tuesday that Obama was the nominee.
So, of course, Obama camp and DNC has known it, too.

They have all just been polite towards Clinton and her supporters and not wanting to push.

NOW is the time to push - Dems can't keep playacting just to indulge the vanity and agendas of the Clintons and their campaign.

Hillary and the Clintons have been in bed for longer than that.

Papauisms, light, fluffy, and content-free, baked fresh daily. Keep 'em coming.

10. This was likely done because McCains campaign is doing the same thing.
But this might be a little premature: Obama may not be the nominee.

16. I would assume Clinton was/will be invited to participate
But she might not want to, because it might cut into her own fundraising, and she needs money right now. Plus, I don't think she trusts Dean (and I don't blame her; Dean has been publicly neutral but I have no doubt that he privately favors Obama, and for good reason).

14. he`s not running against hillary anymore
he`s running for the local and state democrats and against john. 50 states means from the your mayor to your senator

with her approval, hillary is watching her supporters try to overthrow our party....

the super delegates will see who has the plan, ability and courage to win this fall.

15. smart politics too. There are a lot of super delegates within the DNC and at state level who will
look at this and realize that Obama can raise big $$ and he is willing to share it with the party so we can have a overall victory, not just at the presidential level.

27. The Obama campaign has been devoting at least half it energy on new registrations
In reality, Obama and the Party have been working in concert all along.

If Obama would have devoted every waking hour to destroying Clinton, as she has done to him, he would have crushed her long ago.

It wasn't necessary. It wasn't healthy. It wasn't the path to victory in November.

But she sure as hell made a pest of herself, given that opening.

Every call I have received from the Obama campaign was a request to help man registration booths here and there. Not a single push poll. Not a single strong-arm anti-Hillary call. It is all about bringing the grass roots into the process.

How many voter registration drives has the Clinton campaign funded? Zero.

To hell with anybody who will criticize Obama on this point. Criticize him for his positions on issues if you like, but fuck anybody who criticizes him on this point.
