2. Another Clinton Admin defector, btw
"Stiglitz joins the chorus of Judases. He served in the Clinton Administration as the chair of the President's Council of Economic Advisors (1995 – 1997)."

15. Sure they can: "Stiglitz is a cultist -- where's his Flag Pin?"
In the past 6 months, to my surprise, I've learned that nothing is too low for the Clintons. We ain't seen nothin' yet.

9. Wow....
I laughed so hard I lost a contact lens. Thanks alot... :eyes:

Oh wait... Just when is he going to recognize the gain on his extra land that he was given. (Way below FMV...) I have yet to see THAT on a 1040.

10. Wouldn't be surprised! Doh!
That wouldn't show up unless he sold his land....on a schedule D supported by a Form 4797.

But then, you might not know that........

Beauty is, those highly educated folks, one who worked in the Clinton White House, understand Obama's economic brilliance better than most, and certainly better than you. :eyes:

Go ahead, you can laugh at yourself now.

11. So now THAT land is considered "Business Property?"
Wow. Would personal real estate appear on a 4797?

Probably not...

Obama didn't file an 8829.

It is not business property.

Go ahead, you can laugh at yourself now.

12. He didn't sell any land ......so your original argument didn't make sense.....
In addition, it would qualify for an exclusion if you are talking about land dealing with his house.

I thought you were talking about investment property if sold as a gain.

Otherwise, you wouldn't see it on the 1040.

17. careful...

There is no such thing as a "Nobel Laureate" in Economics because there is no Nobel Prize for Economics. The whole "prize" thing is a neo-liberal fraud with a political agenda. Yes, Stiglitz is not Hayek (in fact he "debunked" him), but this whole arena is pretty smelly. You might want to research this a bit before proclaiming its "importance". A little detail on what they are "backing" would be nice.

19. The Audacity of Data
by Noam Scheiber
Barack Obama's surprisingly non-ideological policy shop.
Post Date Wednesday, March 12, 2008

And, yet, it's not just the details of Obama's policies that suggest a behavioral approach. In some respects, the sensibility behind the behaviorist critique of economics is one shared by all the Obama wonks, whether they're domestic policy nerds or grizzled foreign policy hands. Despite Obama's reputation for grandiose rhetoric and utopian hope-mongering, the Obamanauts aren't radicals--far from it. They're pragmatists--people who, when an existing paradigm clashes with reality, opt to tweak that paradigm rather than replace it wholesale. As Thaler puts it, "Physics with friction is not as beautiful. But you need it to get rockets off the ground." It might as well be the motto for Obama's entire policy shop.

Nice little writeup in TNR back in March.
