Let's be honest if Obama were not a candidate Hillary would've had a photo op with Wright
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 08:36 AM by wndycty
Think about it. Influential Black minister with a flock of 6,000. Hillary would have been on stage a Trinity nodding her head in that fake ass "I feel your pain" Clinton style. She would have recruited him to be part of her African American or faith leadership teams.

If Obama were not a candidate there would have been no reason for the the likes of Hannity, Rush and Co. to ruin Wright by lifting sound bites intended to paint him as an unpatriotic, anti-white bigot.

We all know that the Clinton team would have been angling for that photo op with Wright.

Wright is not who the media has painted him out to be. If you haven't seen it yet get your hands on a copy of The Bill Moyers' Show.

4. Was this Wright flap their idea? I thought it was a Republican smear
but after seeing that image when it came out, I don't think so any more.

8. No it was not the Clinton's idea, however they are exploiting it . . .
. . .just like they would have attempted to exploit a photo op with Wright if he were not so controversial right now.

15. But, how do we know that? That's what I can't figure out.
Edited on Sat Apr-26-08 09:00 AM by sfexpat2000
I'm still in the place where it hurts to see how their campaign has been conducted, so I'm not HOPING that it's their doing. But, they knew Wright. They knew where his congregation was. Who could put it together faster than the Clintons and who would benefit more? It would be a phone call and that's all.

The Republicans have been playing up the Muslim stuff, not blackness. That's been the Clintons. Do we know that there was some other actor in this ugliness?

Obama will be fine and Wright can certainly take care of himself. One unintended consequence of all of this is that those of us who would never have heard of the reverend have been given an opportunity to learn about him and his work and his ideas. (Oh, and he's incredibly handsome, too. lol)

/oops

7. Let's scrutinize all of the African American clergy Hillary associates herself with
For the record I'm not saying she would be a member of Trinity but she would have definitely angled for a photo op.

9. Poor Rev. Wright
All this time, and his relationship with Obama is a mere "photo-op."

12. Your mere and simple ignorance is laughable
You know Obama has a long time relationship with Wright and that is why his sermons are so scrutinized. While he criticized the sermons he did not throw Wright under the bus.

Hillary and Bill see the Black church and clergy as photo ops.

31. Doesn't the OP suggest that a single photo op would somehow...
... be comparable to that long time relationship? If not, what is the point of the post?

17. shh dont remind them

President Clinton and Rev. Jeremiah Wright... at White House breakfast during the 'Monica Mess.' I have no problem with Rev. Wright. I do have a problem with Clintonian hypocrisy."

Not just anyone gets invited to a White House breakfast where they can shake the hand of the President. These events are carefully engineered to curry favor with people politicos think can help them.

Hillary may not have chosen Wright to be her pastor, yet her husband chose to cultivate a relationship with Rev. Wright during his presidency. This fact seems to have vanished from Hillary's memory as she delivered her recent round of sound bites, criticizing Obama for his past relationship to Wright.

They already had at least one photo op with him. That's the Clinton modus operandi. Friendly photo op to score a few polling points or votes, then throw 'em under bus.

24. a room full of ministers. big deal. that's still not the same as a longtime association as a pastor
. . . to Obama.

By the way, the only major issue in all of this that I think is relevant to the campaign is whether Obama shares the views of the pastor. I don't believe that he does.

There may be some relevant issues surrounding the candor of his responses to questions about his association with the reverend, but I don't have a problem with that either.

I'm sorry, I think this comes down to "When my candidate does something it's okay." As an Edwards supporter basically backing Obama because he *is* the nominee, I'm stunned at the ridiculous crap the Clinton supporters think is acceptable while they judge Obama for the tiniest grievance.
