So Women Need Education & Training To Receive Equal Pay Huh?
McCain is a senile misogynist who is living in an altered universe. His statement and outlook is so outrageous that to even try and dispute it with the evident truth is ridiculous. Here's a guy who was at the bottom of his class and got his start because of his family connections. He also lives the very good life off the back of a woman. So this is the guy who some would rather vote for than Obama?

“McCain stated his opposition to the bill as he campaigned in rural eastern Kentucky, where poverty is worse among women than men. The Arizona senator said he was familiar with the disparity but that there are better ways to help women find better paying jobs.

"They need the education and training, particularly since more and more women are heads of their households, as much or more than anybody else," McCain said. "And it's hard for them to leave their families when they don't have somebody to take care of them.

"It's a vicious cycle that's affecting women, particularly in a part of the country like this, where mining is the mainstay; traditionally, women have not gone into that line of work, to say the least," he said.” Cont…

1. Geez does the paragraph (below) that you describe sound like anyone we know?

It seems to describe Bush to a "T" IMO.

3. McCain relies on his POW laurels to get by
Despite his non-progressive stance on many social and his lack of financial acumen, he relies on his POW status to propel him as a serious candidate. It's a shame....

8. McCain skipped the vote. Both Clinton and Obama voted for it.

Senate Republicans killed the bill Wednesday night on a 56-42 vote that denied the measure the 60 votes needed to advance it to full debate and a vote. Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., had delayed the vote to give McCain's Democratic rivals, Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama, time to return to Washington to support the measure, which would make it easier for women to sue their employers for pay discrimination.

McCain skipped the vote to campaign in New Orleans.

"I am all in favor of pay equity for women, but this kind of legislation, as is typical of what's being proposed by my friends on the other side of the aisle, opens us up to lawsuits for all kinds of problems," the expected GOP presidential nominee told reporters. "This is government playing a much, much greater role in the business of a private enterprise system."

His record is talk, not action. He has no history of advocacy on any women's issues.

14. Also, which women's issues do you think he hasn't addressed?

For me, women's issues mean incentives and protections for families, health insurance, abortion rights, equal pay, childcare, early education, schools and afterschool care, and civil rights protection.

All of these issues are addressed in depth at barackobama.com.
Which women's issues do you not think he has addressed?

-Trying to help.

Point me to his women's issues page
He doesn't even bother to address the topic, which means he's unlikely to put much effort into advancing a quality agenda in Congress re women's issues.

He has a poor health care reform plan and is sabotaging efforts for universal health care reform

He's talked of privatizing social security (older women live in poverty too)

He's done nothing but talk about prescription drug prices (Clinton has been much more active on this issue also)

He only talks of equal pay, has not taken any real action to make it happen

Obama is famous for saying one thing and doing another when it comes to women's issues.

"BARACK OBAMA’S PLAN TO RECLAIM THE AMERICAN DREAM FOR WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES"
BARACK OBAMA’S PLAN
Fight for Pay Equity:
Obama believes the government needs to take steps to better enforce the Equal Pay Act, fight job discrimination, and improve child care options and family medical leave to give women equal footing
in the workplace.
Expand High-Quality Afterschool Opportunities:
Obama will double funding for the main federal support for afterschool programs, the 21st Century Learning Centers program, to serve one million more children.
Expand the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit:
Obama will reform the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit by making it refundable and allowing low-income families to receive up to a 50 percent credit for their child care expenses. Coupled with Obama’s “Making Work Pay” tax credit, this proposal will help put more money directly in the pockets of hardworking low and middle-income parents.
Paid Sick Days:
Obama will require that employers provide seven paid sick days per year to their employees.
Encourage States to Adopt Paid Leave:
Obama will initiate a strategy to encourage all 50 states to adopt paid-leave systems. Obama will provide a $1.5 billion fund to help states jump-start paid-leave programs consistent with their local needs.
Expand Flexible Work Arrangements:
Obama will create a program to inform businesses about the benefits of flexible work schedules; help businesses create flexible work opportunities; and increase federal incentives for telecommuting. Obama will also make the federal government a model employer in terms of adopting flexible work schedules.
Protecting a Women’s Right to Choose:
Obama will make safeguarding women’s rights under Roe v. Wade a priority. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn that decision.
Reducing Unintended Pregnancy:
Obama will work to reduce unintended pregnancy by guaranteeing equity in contraceptive coverage, providing sex education, and offering rape victims accurate information about emergency contraception.
Ending Health Care Disparities:
Obama will invest in research to examine gender and health disparities. Obama will also establish community outreach programs in underserved areas to help make sure women have health care and maintain healthy lifestyles.
Ending Violence Against Women:
Obama will appoint a special advisor who will report to him regularly on issues related to violence against women. Obama will also pass legislation that provides job security to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Record of Advocacy:
Barack Obama has a long record of standing up for women. In Illinois, he passed the Equal Pay Act to give 330,000 more women protection from pay discrimination and passed another law that ensured victims of domestic violence could seek treatment without losing their jobs. In the U.S. Senate, he introduced and cosponsored legislation to reduce unintended teen pregnancy, strengthen families by supporting fathers who are doing the right thing and cracking down on those who are not, guarantee workers paid sick leave, and ensure that women are not receiving less pay than men for comparable work. And throughout his career, in both the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate, Obama has stood up for a women’s right to choose, consistently earning 100 percent ratings from pro-choice groups.

10. Clinton Statement on McCain Opposition to Equal Pay Legislation

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/view/?id=7279

4/23/2008
Hillary Clinton Statement on McCain Opposition to Equal Pay Legislation

In response to the U.S. Senate rejecting the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, a bill that would have provided American women with the legal recourse to challenge workplace discrimination when it occurs, Hillary Clinton issued the following statement:

"I was proud to be an original co-sponsor of this legislation, which would help deliver on the promise of equality and fairness in the workplace, and I am deeply disappointed 42 of my colleagues did not see fit to pass it. I am particularly disappointed that Senator McCain skipped the vote on this important legislation, and indicated that he would not have supported it had he been there.

"Senator McCain has yet again fallen in line with President Bush while middle class families are falling by the wayside. Senator McCain would rather pass laws to cut corporate taxes by $100 billion more - than pass laws to protect the civil rights of women earning thousands less than their male counterparts. Women are earning less but Senator McCain is offering more of the same.

"As president, I will never waver in my support for equal pay for equal work. I’m proud to be the sponsor of the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would increase sanctions for violating the Equal Pay Act and provide stronger protections for women whose rights have been violated. I think it’s long past time we put equal pay at the top of the national legislative agenda, to demonstrate that as a nation, we value the skill, talent and hard work of every American, including every American woman."
