"Ba-rok-bok-bok-bok-bok!" ROFLMAO!!!
Ok, so it is a bit childish in nature, but still; first thing I've read in GDP that has literally made me laugh out loud in quite some time. Too damn funny!!!

I do wish he'd take her up on her offer though, regardless of his technically not needing to. Sounds like it could be the first real debate based on the terms set forth and it would be a really revealing way to showcase why one is better than the other. No matter how many debates there have been, I'd say that 90% of them were borderline useless in really getting to the heart of matters and this one would have promise to finally rise above that all. Personally, I think it would be hell about time we saw a debate like that! And regardless of all the reasons one can say about why he doesn't have to etc, there really is no denying that on the part of his camp it's a strategical decision based on a bit of fear. I think that's a shame, because if he's to be our nominee I think he absolutely should welcome any debate that would be in that sort of format and should always be willing to stand up strong and have the confidence in his ability and words to declare in essence "absolutely. I'll whoop ya!". But fear is a factor here, and it is a bit of a shame, but I digress. But still:

"Ba-rok-bok-bok-bok-bok!"

That's just too damn funny LOL

48. No, high school and college debates have judges,
not moderators. Been involved with both since 1968, so I can assure you of the accuracy of this statement.

Was also involved in Lincoln Union at Texas A&M in the 70s, which involves before and after audience polling. Whoever shifted the audience wins. Topics such as Was Abe Lincoln a War Criminal?

Fun, thought provoking, gloves off, and audience oriented.

Surely a presidential nomination merits more scrutiny than a senate seat.

14. Perhaps a difference in scrutiny/coverage now that we have
teevee, youtube, etc. One debate reaches a passel more folks than the ones with Lincoln/Douglas.

What we need in televised debates is more debate (substance) and less fluff.

44. 21 is enough
The 21st was no more revealing than the 3rd, for example. Nothing is learned from these encounters.

Scrutiny? Yes of course. But the modern American political "debate" is not scrutiny.

Coincidentally I was in Indianapolis this week and the local NPR station aired extended interviews with the two Democratic gubernatorial candidates -- on two successive days. I found that an extremely good format because it allowed each candidate to discuss issues in depth without having this atmosphere of just grandstanding to run up style points. It depends on a capable moderator to ask penetrating questions and to challenge weak answers, which this moderator did very capably.

46. You're probably right
If you put someone like Obama -- who's trying to run an aboveboard campaign -- against someone who is a proven liar and not afraid to toss the most vile mud, he probably would come out second. So, why should he subject himself to that?

She would go heavily negative and he would either have to take it -- or he would have to start slinging the mud back. And then, she'd start crying and tell everyone it just proves he's a sexist for hitting a girl.

Let me help:

The point is that who the best candidate is shouldn't revolve around how much money they have to pay for propagandic advertising; but instead by what positions they hold and their grasp on the issues.

But why do I have the feeling that if HillBilly's coffers were overflowing you'd be yelping that this is "proof" that she is the best person for the job?

Money is part of the political process. That is unfortunate. But it is a fact of life. Don't like it. Change the system. Until you do, it's the way it is.

We need to get money and religion out of presidential politics. Until we do, we're stuck with this system.

And it's not "buying the election." Just another made-up whine from the losing side.

Before that they were fine with her buying ads to trash obama...

But now that her poor judgment and bad planning have left her campaign behind and broke.... suddenly campaign contributions are evil.

Of course the fact Obama has MORE SUPPORT FROM MORE PEOPLE, being the reason he has more money and can buy as seems lost on hills followers.

Too bad all the lobbyists and PACs couldn't compete with the 90 dollar donations from almost a million and a half obama supporters.

But hey, tell hill to keep on insulting the netroots and liberal activists... and calling Obama chicken for not providing her with free air time.

He has a lot to lose and nothing to gain by debating her, even if he's confident he can win, as a debate "win" is subjective anyways and decided by those who may or not have your best interest in mind. Hillary has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Regardless of confidence level that's a dumb strategic move to make.

Come on, you'd be praising Hillary for not debating if the roles were reversed (and so would I). Don't drape your dislike of Obama in concern for the voters. There's been 21 debates for the voters, 4 between just the two of them. The voters and the country won't see anything new in another. This is a VERY disingenuous line of attack here by you.

were Barack to have come up with this, I'd be in favor of it. I"m not "attacking" him, I just think it's a great idea and it would be unlike any other debate we've seen. If it's just the two of them, questioning each other, without a moderator, we would get to see a number of things: what's important to them - what kind of questions do they ask? Who is trying to score points, who is trying to have a substantive discussion? Who dominates whom? I think it would be a fascinating glimpse into their leadership potential, and I'd like to see it.

However now Hill is falling so far behind that dragging Obama down to her level is her only hope.

Obama offered a debate, and Hill refused when she thought she had this locked up... were you crying that she was afraid or lacked the ability to debate when she refused?

Yet now her campaign is broke and she is demanding a 22nd debate because it is the only way she can get air time other than going on news and talk shows... where she might be asked a question she doesn't like and have to filibuster.

She has everything to gain and little to lose by debating again. He has little to gain and much to lose.

On the other hand, there are still a lot of voters and SD's who want to hear more substance and less fluff. A good and true debate hosted by a non-MSM source could be enlightening and I would like to see it happen. In a race this close, I would submit that the people deserve to see a real debate. What we have had up to now has been pretty much fluff.

I don't like the chicken reference. It's a strategic decision on his part.
