Russert Notes Hillary's Radical Days- What A Hypocrite She Is Using Bogus Ayers Crap
Read this and see how easy it would be for McCain/GOP to tar Hillary the way they are now doing to Obama. At least Obama isn't being a scumbag and using this against Hillary the way she used Ayers.

MR. RUSSERT: David, we had in the debate--and Andrea--Hillary Clinton jumping on Barack Obama about William Ayers, the Weatherman, is one of the questions, and Jeremiah Wright. John McCain has now picked up on the William Ayers situation. Tom Hayden, the former radical from the '60s, has now written a piece which is basically saying, "Time out." And he writes this, "Hillary is blind to her own roots in the sixties. ... She was in Chicago for three nights during the 1968 street confrontations. ... She was involved in the New Haven defense of Bobby Seale during his murder trial in 1970, as the lead scheduler of student monitors.

"Most significantly in terms of her recent attacks on Barack, after Yale law school, Hillary went to work for the left-wing Bay Area law firm of Treuhaft, Walker and Burnstein, which specialized in Black Panthers and West Coast labor leaders prosecuted for being communists. Two of the firm's partners, according to Treuhaft, were communists and two others `tolerated communists.'

"All these were honorable words and associations in my mind, but doesn't she see how the Hillary of today would accuse the Hillary of the sixties of associating with black revolutionaries who fought gun battles with police officers, and defending pro-communist lawyers who backed communists? Doesn't the Reverend Jeremiah Wright, whom Hillary attacks today, represent the very essence of the black radicals Hillary was associating with in those days?"

Are we going to have a debate in November about past associations and pastors, or we going to have a debate about the war, health care and economy?

1. Obama should do what Huckabee's campaign used to do.
Make an ad and give it to the media saying they "decided against airing it" because it was too negative.

Iowans didn't seem to mind, and they have a particular disdain for negative campaining it seems/

McCain fanned the flames by calling for it to be taken off the air.

25. And Hillary should be making an ad of her own bragging
I really hope that Obama can win the Democratic nomination without stooping to such low, red-baiting tactics. Avoiding this sort of slime-balling against his opponent during the primary should help insulate him from such McLame attacks later on.

However, if I was consulting for the Hillary campaign, and learned of a soon-to-released attack ad that used the facts highlighted by Hayden above, I would seize the meme, and proudly declare Hillary's past in the grass roots, among idealists who wanted to create a more equal, just, and peaceful America. Of all that Hillary should be ashamed of and hiding these days, her lefty youth is hardly one of them. Again, as the hypothetical campaign consultant, I would use the saying, often apocryphally attributed to Winston Churchill* about idealistic youth and the wise (?) conservatism of age.

Clearly, I am not one of Hillary's highly-paid campaign consultants...

* The quote apparently originated with Francois Guisot (1787-1874): "Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." It was revived by French Premier Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929): "Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head."

accused of being Communists, this can be equated with bombing buildings? I don't think so.

20. So Obama is guilty by assocation? If that's your case then Hillary has a much longer list..........
after all it was during her 35 years of experience as first lady that Bill pardoned the weathermen.

21. And Hillary claims that she was not aware of the pardons.
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 12:39 PM by VolcanoJen
Which strikes one as odd, considering that the pardons were a pretty big issue in New York in 2000, during the height of her Senate campaign, and considering she was married to the pardoner at the time.

24. And it's also odd, VJ, since she claims that during the WH years Bill always spoke to her first,
before doing anything or discussing issues with anyone else.
That's why she feels entitled to claim 8 years of 'experience' while being married to the President.

Wish I had a video to post of words coming out of both sides of her mouth...:hi:

16. Barack Obama was eight years old when Hillary was personally involved...
... in the more radical elements of the anti-war movement.

It's the height of hypocrisy for her to try to tie Obama to the Weather Underground.

27. nice try. black panthers killed people. also, her old man pardoned
some weathermen. I remember those times. I lived near there. get your stuff straight before you start something about this stuff. Being accused of being a commie could get you killed then. and, there was a lot of violence on both sides of the dogma divide. read about it.

12. Like Tom Hayden, I found Hillary's past association to be honorable
but she has been throwing people under the bus at such a rapid rate to score political points the respect she had earned from me has evaporated. She has become something much less than what she once was. She has allowed ambition and power to corrupt her integrity. She has compromised her ethics and become that which she once stood against. Her story has become a tragedy.
