Why Hillary is still eating Obama's dust
Mike Lupica

Thursday, April 24th 2008, 9:37 AM

Hillary Clinton says she is the one to fix everything, which these days means fixing only one thing: a Republican economy that has looted the country. Then, almost in the next breath, she acts as if she is willing to open a lemonade stand to keep her campaign going.

The way things are going for her - because she will say or do anything to be the Democratic nominee - her latest commercial message in Indiana and North Carolina will probably go something like this: "You're all in debt, but don't worry ... so am I!"

She raised more than $200 million to run for President. It wasn't nearly enough, and yet she continues to tell the voters and the country that she is the one who will put money back into everybody's pockets. Her own people issue press releases that trumpet her "commitment to jump-starting our economy" when she can't even jump-start her own.

Barack Obama has been better organized, raised more money, won more states, gained more delegates and had a better strategy than Clinton from the start.

snip//

You are allowed to be as cynical as you want about Obama, and ask the same question Clinton asks about why he can't put her away, even though a much better question is why she didn't put him away at the start of this.

Obama has a vision about how big politics should change in this country. Clinton IS big politics, but her vision is getting back on Air Force One.

The Clintonistas, especially the ones in the media, talk constantly about how she keeps changing the "narrative." But despite her victory in Pennsylvania, the narrative doesn't change any more than the math does.

Here is that narrative for Hillary Clinton: If I can't beat Obama, I couldn't care less if John McCain does.

And please send money!

Whoops that's Daniel Plainview, not Hillary Clinton. Plainview is tall and limps.

by a lot in the upcoming two because I am so tired of her, I really would like to see what she will do if he wins by 10 or 15 percent I just want to hear what her excuse will be if this happens..

4. If that happens, I want to relish her final concession speech. She'd
be toast, even if Dean, Pelosi, and Reid had to get the hook to get her off the stage.
And the SDs would be heading towards Obama in droves.

17. Her strength and resiliency should be
admired, and are a good example to all women. However when that evolves into win-at-all-costs nastiness, the example is not as good.

18. She's no stronger or more resilient than billions of people the world over, many of
whom happen to be women.

If facts she's less strong and less resilient than many people, many of who also happen to be women.

Quit placing her on a pedestal.

21. yes, many women around the world have overcome a lot more, and with a lot less to work with
all she did was ride her husband's coattails to a career that was won by smearing and defaming her opponents and spending some money. She is an embarrassment to peace-loving, progressive people everywhere.

11. Our country is so fortunate
that hilary clinton is long gone down that rabbit hole of her own digging.

I don't even want to think about the hubris and arrogance in the lies that would emanate from the clintons on day one when their ugly little dramas would start permeating the Nation.

Where is the voters mentality that would support a candidate that started with $200 million dollars and is now broke, basically begging for money? Lately, among my family, friends & co workers this particular argument has been my rant... I do not get it!! I will e-mail, print and post this article!

13. concise and complete....
....Hillary has always been my last choice, and before the voting started I figured she'd win the nomination. After seeing the way she has run her campaign and the desperation that followed I have lost all respect for the Clintons and their surrogates.

The country really needs a break - I know I do.

37. Really desperate?
Like someone who gets locked out or tombstoned, and comes back with a new name.

Or someone who is inside HRC campaign and creates an ID for the sole purpose of slinging crap.

Or someone who thinks we can't see what they're bringing?

Someone like that?

...with America, and its time for a new paradigm. If nothing else, this campaign has exposed them for what they truly are. Money-grubbing opportunists who will do and say anything to get in power and stay there. No matter how much damage they do in the process.

39. Therein lies the rub. I'm not entirely convinced Hillary would prefer Obama to McCain.
It seems like she and McCain are a bit too cordial and friendly. Why is the press not demanding her withdrawal? If the roles were switched, I GUARANTEE that Obama would have been pressured out by now (or have deduced through the amazingness of math that he couldn't win). Is Hillary this shitty at math, or does she just use her own base system of counting?

"You know, in base 2, 2 + 2 = 5."
"Too bad we use base 10."
"Base 10 is not a fair accessment of voting numbers, plus all the important states use base 2."
"No they don't."
"Well, they would if I were president."
