Funny new Clinton supporter mantra...
I think it is sooo funny. They have stopped trying to make the case for Hillary. They seem to have stopped trying to attack Obama with republican talking points...

The new mantra around here seems to be:

Clinton supporter pretending that Hillary has won the nomination. All over DU(and the liberal blog-sphere) they are going around talking about how great it is now that Hillary is winning/about-to-win that. They have stopped trying to convince people that it is possible(which it isn't) and they are just "saying it." as though no one will notice that they have nothing to back it up. They just keep repeating that the "tide has turned." (as thought saying it makes it true.) Hell, there is even a post saying how Obama came close, but just didn't do it(acting as though Obama where going to drop out in a few days) lol

(fingers in ears)
LA LA LA LA Hillary is winning LA LA LA LA

Has anyone else noticed this nuttiness? When will it end?

I was kind of wondering what happened to him.

He's still working for the campaign, with his lofty title removed but paychecks intact.

2. I just realized something today
If 115 of these oh-so-coy undeclared Superdelegates (of which there are currently about 250, since some have not yet been chosen) were to come out and endorse Obama tomorrow - then he would essentially be the presumptive nominee because he could clinch the nomination by taking only 45% of the remaining delegates.

He has 1725 right now.

Add 115 Superdelegates = 1840.

There are 408 pledged delegates left to contest.

45% of that is 184.

1840 + 184 = 2024.

The superdelegates are the ONLY thing holding this up. If they endorsed tomorrow, we could call him the nominee and get on with the process of fundraising for the GE and taking on McCain.

3. Yes, I've "noticed" it, but I've also noticed...
that many more Hillary supporters are suddenly in favor of the "Unity Ticket" - as if that's remotely possible after painting Obama as a Muslim/Christian Radical, among other things. But as you said,"LA LA LA LA Hillary is winning LA LA LA LA..."

5. I noticed the unity ticket crap is making a comeback
It always makes me laugh because it is their way of saying (without saying) that Hillary is finished. Their only hope and her only hope is to get her on the ticket.

... the "Tide has Turned" BS. They don't take the time to realize that even if the tide had turned (which it hasn't), it's too little and way too late to equate to winning the nomination.

15. And where would we be if the shoe were on the other foot?
I know damn well that I'd have accepted her nomination by now if the numbers were reversed. I strongly suspect that most Obama supporters would too.

But it's simply fascinating to see how far they'll reach for some desperate hope that she'll still get the nomination despite the evidence that she is not the more desirable candidate.

16. Like a silly monkey...
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 12:00 AM by TwoSparkles
Hillary is flinging all sorts of poo around, to see what sticks.

It's only going to get more absurd, you realize that don't you? We're at the 11th hour here, and
she's just come out of PA--a tailor-made state for Hillary. She had the hometown advantage and
the state political apparatus in her back pocket.

She lacks all of that in NC and IN.

Hold on to yer butts, because the monkey will be flinging new poo, all of the time!

Also--her arguments are so crazy, that my guess is that they've stopped telling the reasons
why they think she won. When they actually explain that she's winning because they're
counting MI and FL--or she's winning because she won the big states--it's so easy to
just roll your eyes and say, "Ok, that's fucking batshit loony."

So, maybe they figure they'll just say, "We're like...so winning!", and not explain--because they
know the statement is indefensible and absurd.

We will see loads of batshit loony before this thing come to a close.

17. I think they watched too much TV.
If a person's idea of reality is shaped by their perception, and they can spread the perception, they think that reality will change.

The formula works well in matters of opinion, not so well in matters of math.

24. Rachel Maddow said it best
when she described Hillary's PA momentum as just media fodder. Everybody knows that neither candidate can reach the magic number just by pledged delegates remaining and also that Hillary will not be able to overtake Obama's pledged delegate lead. All of this momentum talk presumes to know what criteria each superdelegate will use to determine their vote. Maybe they're swayed by Hillary winning PA by 9 points, maybe they're swayed by Obama winning VA by 29 points, maybe they're swayed by a weegie board or whether or not it's a full moon out tonight. Fact remains, we don't know what the superdelegates are thinking unless they have spoken publicly, so the media is trying to think out loud for them to the public. This momentum is just BS to give the media something to talk about.

27. Nice to see a thread where everyone agrees with each other...
but still, as a Hillary supporter, I do not want the unity ticket(a bad idea whose time has never come)and I don't use tired old cliches to say Hillary is winning. General statements, include all supporters in one worm can, do not really fit the circumstances.

To this point, neither Hillary nor Obama has won anything. Neither at this time has the nomination. This contest will go to the convention for resolution.

So, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Sorry that I had to blow most of your assumptions out the window.

Many of the Obama supporters appear to be going on the premise that if you repeat something often enough and harshly enough, that the 'great masses out there' will believe you.

We will just have to be patient and wait.

31. Nobody complained about Huckabee
staying in the race so long when it was obvious he was going to lose. Obama supporters object to Hillary's tactics more than anything else.

"There's no such thing as a pledged delegate." That's why Randi Rhodes got fired. She was pissed that Hillary seemed to say that we were wasting our time voting for Obama.

"I have a long record, McCain has a long record, Obama has a speech he gave in 2002." Not going to win many friends in the Democratic Party with that kind of talk.
