I can't believe Wright said two controversial things in one speech:
Edited on Sun Apr-27-08 11:02 PM by ProSense
"Different does not mean deficient" and "I believe a change is going to come because many of us are committed to changing how we see others who are different."

What on earth prompted him to utter these flat out false and controversial statements?

Of course different means deficient, this is America. Only an anti-American fool would claim that being different in America is cool and those differences are not to held up as points of division!

And change? Coming? What idiocy.

Who was it that said, "There are three thing in life that are certain: death, taxes and change."

Moron!

Well his speech tonight proves that Wright is too controversial and should really go into hiding.

6. Too bad you didn't see the portion of the Moyers' interview
where Wright talks specifically about bible passages that are anti- someone. He used anti-Semitic passages as an example.

It's a mistake to underestimate this man, honestly. The video is up at Moyers' site.

9. Wright's talked about his struggle with those passages.
Actually, a great deal of his life-long ministry has been about the hermeneutics of those passages, and the kinds of struggles found among the enslaved and oppressed of the bible, and how it relates to struggles of the enslaved and oppressed of today.

Definitely worth looking into, if you enjoy that field of study.

19. If we've got a Presidential candidate who openly rejects the entire Judeo-Christian Bible, please...
point me his/her way.

Other than that, though, I think you've quite presumptuous calling it "Obama's Bible".

When Hillary plays patty-cake with Tom Coburn at her Fellowship Meetings, which Bible do THEY read?

If someone doesn't get that, then maybe they should be watching Mister Rogers and not cable news.

16. Did you see his speech today?
All he did was make fun of the Kennedys, make an excuse for blacks underachieving in education, and make some more bigoted remarks. Now that this speech has come out Barack Obama's candidacy is DONE. Simply because I arbitrarily say it is, not based off of who is ahead or any polls or anything, just because I'm so smart and I simply declare it.
:sarcasm:

Seriously, though, some people are actually almost literally saying that, though. Sickens me.

32. More Wright, please.

Wright reactions

McCain, apparently, is through with rejecting and denouncing, and won't play "referee" on the Davis ad.

Meanwhile Clinton's chief strategist says it's time to move on.

"Senator Obama has said what he has to say," Garin said, adding: "We respect the fact that Senator Obama has had his say on this and the campaign should move on."

The candidate herself hit McCain for failing to get that North Carolina ad stopped.

Nothing like exposing McCain as a hypocrite and forcing Hillary's campaign to take a position. (Will they choose attacking Wright?)

33. Look how cute, the bigots cry racism...

Look how cute, the bigots cry racism...

Leave it to Shiksa Malkin to once-again stand-up against racism - something she only does when she can actually distort what is being said by anyone left-leaning in order to then use those paid-for talking points to help the GOP machine. Here is what Malkin writes this morning about Rev. Wright's speech:

"Good morning, people. I’ll be on Fox and Friends at around 8:15am to talk politics. Today’s engine-starter is The American Digest’s post on Jeremiah Wright’s racial brain theories.Do you remember nutball racialist professor Leonard (Blacks are “sun people,” whites are “ice people.”) Jeffries?
<snip>
As I noted yesterday, Wright acted out the differences between black and white marching bands.
<snip>
If he’s this comfortable mocking black/white differences in front of media cameras, I can only imagine what he says in private to his faithful black liberation ideology adherents."

Well Michelle proves finally what I have always suspected. The right-wing brain does not see complexity nor does it understand metaphor. It does, however, appear to hate rather well and so this sudden race to defend black America from a popular black pastor leaves me baffled.

After all, is this not the same bigot who argued in defense of Japanese concentration camps? Is this not the same bigot who routinely attacks Muslims and Islam? How very strange that this bigot would suddenly care about black America being insulted by what she now is trying to spin as racists slurs of a black minister. Quite simply put, what Malkin does not get is everything and what she is paid to parrot is garbage.

Let me just say what I got out Rev. Wright's speech. What Malkin points to as white-left brain theory is really what is generally referred to those who study the brain as creativity and emotion vs. logic and how the brain controls both. To say someone is creative is not to say they are unintelligent. By the same token to say that someone is logical does not make them intelligent. But Wright is NOT talking about intelligence in this regard.

Wright is appearing to use this as a metaphor to emphasize how the culture of the American black community is one of storytelling and song from a slave-history in which those were the only tools of expression and documentation available to an enslaved people. He discusses how those traditions have been attacked as matters of intelligence, when they are in fact matters of culture.

Why is that so difficult to understand for Shiksa and the other brain-dead that walk among us? What Wright appears to be saying is that the Euro-centric way of speaking and expression is acceptable no matter how crude, illogical or how un-artistic, while the black-centric way of speaking and expression is seen as a deficiency that must be remedied, even if not remotely crude and entirely logical and artistic.

34. The goal of the media is to convince everyone that Wright will harm Obama's campaign
Let's evaluate the impact of the Wright smear since it began:
  • Hawaii: Obama 76%, Hillary 24%

  • Wisconsin: Obama 58%, Hillary 41%

  • Ohio: Obama 44%, Hillary 54%

  • Rhode Island: Obama 40%, Hillary 58%

  • Texas P: Obama 47%, Hillary 51%

  • Texas C: Obama 56%, Hillary 44%

  • Vermont: Obama 59%, Hillary 39%

  • Wyoming: Obama 61%, Hillary 38%

  • Mississippi: Obama 61%, Hillary 37%

  • Pennsylvania: Obama 45%, Hillary 55%

Obama won Texas and shaved 10 pts of Hillary's PA lead.
