15. Why else post the picture?
Obama doesn't like chicken therefore he won't debate Hillary because she used to be a chicken in a former life?

104. Hillary's chickens have come home to roost, she's broke
even what she raised after PA (how much goes to the primary) she's still broke.

No debate = no free air time.

Hillary is not wanting to debate the "issues". She wants an unmoderated debate so she can smear him even more. He doesn't need to debate her. He's already beaten her in every way.

22. Because it only helps her.
It is a much better strategy for him to spend the rest of his campaign talking to American citizens around the country.

Hillary supporters calling him, "chicken," as a last ditch tactic, only makes her look more and more desperate.

But y'all go ahead and run her campaign right off the road into the mud. :D

It's a standard rule in politics and you know it: when you're ahead of the game, and the curtain's about to close, don't do anything that might change the dynamics of the race.

Chicken? Oh maybe, and smart. The alternative? Brave and stupid.

I think you should maybe try "Smart" actually.... He realizes why she...
wants a debate is the real reason. Why should he set up a potential source of funding for her? Nope, the Obama people are doing the right thing by not debating her and lets face it, this race is over for all intensive purposes! Time to move on to dealing with the real problem in America, McCain....

Reminds me of The Daily Show last week - when Jon Stewart mocked Obama for ignoring Hillary in his stump speech and only talking about John McCain - to pretend that he already won the nomination.

It's politics, and he's doing the right political thing. As if acting like a four year old is somehow going to convince him or supporters to stop doing that.

Obama has nothing to win. There's nothing in it for him. He can't gain anything. So why on earth should he agree?

24. Hillary is grasping at any opportunity to try to make Obama look bad
Edited on Mon Apr-28-08 07:41 AM by hollowdweller
At that last debate Obama was tired or got flustered by all the attacks by Hillary and the mods and didn't do as well so Clinton smells blood.

He's starting to regain his momentum and she has to figure some way to tear him down again. It's the only hope she has.

I don't blame her for it, it's part of the GOP style campaign she is waging, that whole "bully" persona has worked really well for the Bush family. Maybe GHW schooled Bill in it when they were palling around together.

However I think it really turns off most democrats, and I don't think Obama will fall for it. I think he's going to take the old Bill Clintons campaign style and to a lot of personal campaigning like Bill Clinton did before he became a republican. The high road is what people want, not the bully.

30. Old enough to understand why Obama is afraid to have one more debate
Because Hillary won every one-on-one debate they did up until now.

She answers every question clearly, drawing on her knowledge and addressing the issues.

He hesitates for a while and then falls back on one of Axelrod's pre-prepared paragraphs.

40. Dude - you are way off message.
Here is what Barack Obama said in the ABC debate in Philadelphia:

But, look, the fact of the matter is, is that both of us are working as hard as we can to make sure that we're delivering a message to the American people about what we would do as president. Sometimes that message is going to be imperfectly delivered because we are recorded every minute of every day.

And I think Senator Clinton deserves the right to make some errors once in a while. Obviously, I make some as well.

I think what's important is to make sure that we don't get so obsessed with gaffes that we lose sight of the fact that this is a defining moment in our history. We are going to be tackling some of the biggest issues that any president has dealt with in the last 40 years.

28. I'd refuse too ...
After a while, you get tired of being bullied by the school bully.
I remember when I was in 9th grade, there was a girl who always wanted to "fight" me .. shear JEALOUSY.
She was real ghetto trash; a first rate THUG.
She used to taunt me when school would let out in the afternoon.
After a while, it just got tiring. All I wanted to do was JUST go to school!
Same with Obama ...
Hillary is so full of venom, and resentment, she can't control herself.
WHEN will the bullying stop?
WHEN does Obama get to JUST run for President?

What kind of politics involves running away from debates and refusing to answer questions?

Then it all comes down to who can buy the most TV ads and put up the most yard signs.

If it's all about the money then why don't we all just vote for Mitt Romney? :eyes:

65. Like the one Obama refused to have in Wisconsin?
Obama only agrees to debate when he is behind in the polls (like in Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania).

Hillary will debate anytime, anywhere because she is always READY! B-)

91. Obama was ahead in the polls, and that's why he refused to do a debate.
Even back in February, the Obama campaign was whining about having already done enough debates already.

CNN.com - February 14th

Recent polls show a tight race between the two Democratic front-runners in Wisconsin, but a Strategic Vision polls conducted February 8-10 has Obama leading Clinton 45-41, a lead outside of the poll's margin of error of 3 percentage points.

The Wisconsin contest picked up in intensity Wednesday when the Clinton camp launched a television ad criticizing Obama for not agreeing to debate in the state.

"Both Democratic candidates have been invited to a televised Wisconsin debate," an announcer says in the Clinton ad. "Hillary Clinton has said yes. Barack Obama hasn't. Maybe he'd prefer to give speeches than have to answer questions."

Responding to the ad, Obama campaign manager David Axelrod said, "We've debated 18 times, we're going to debate two more, but we've got other business to do here in terms of meeting voters face to face."

89. At this point what does he have to gain from another debate?
Hillary is the one scrambling for every vote she can scrape up, whether it's the gun toting yahoos or the bigots who are afraid of "uppity" ministers. Obama needs to start thinking about McCain now.

92. The difference is that this time neither candidate is the incumbent
I can understand why an incumbent would not want to do a televised debate against a challenger.

But in any case I am always in favor of televised debates as they are in the public interest.

99. I think the debate, after there have been so many
takes their eyes off the prize. AND similarly to debating incumbent vs. challenger, She has nothing to lose--she can say anything and hope she can strike an nerve or chord. but that's just my opinion.
