Why would the NC GOP play the Wright Ad NOW while the primaries are still going on?
Pardon me if I seem a bit dense on this one, but wouldn't the GOP be better served to save the money and run the ad against the Democratic NOMINEE? Oh, I get it...It has to be to help Hillary in the NC primary. Now that makes sense. Hopefully North Carolinians will be smart enough to see through Hillary's fake outrage over the ad. Part of me wonders just how much she might be secretly pushing it. Okay...flame away.

5. You got it!
They want Hillary to win the nomination so they can use all the things they have been collecting over the years on her. They know she can bring out the republican base, and McCain has a problem doing that by himself. Hillary would be a God send for them!

10. Oh no
those supporting Clinton, believe the media will be fair to her...they only do the racist crap in re: Obama. Being Black he has to run through a special set of rules.

Wonder what Special Set of rules re: a woman (Clinton)

But say nothing now Clinton Supporters, this treatment of Obama benefits you for now...but your turn is coming.

It's clear who they want to run against in November, they have been saving this shit for years...If it wasnt for Obama and his supporters...they could already be well into the campaign.

The media will be in heaven when if they are allowed to go after Hillary in the GE! Hillary supporters will see the change when they make mince meat of her, and once again we have a repug in the Whitehouse!

to destroy Obama so they're starting early. They are assuming he will be the nominee.

So this is how they will help out Hillary this time.

12. Hillary's fake outrage today...
"I have said that that that was a personal decision of his. I answered one question about it that made it clear I would not have stayed in that church under those circumstances," Clinton told reporters in Graham, NC.

"But, I regret the efforts by the Republicans to politicize this matter and I believe that if Senator McCain were serious he would do more than just send a letter he is the putative nominee I think he could very clearly tell the North Carolina party tell the Mississippi party that he would not tolerate those kinds of advertisements and I'm waiting to see if he does that."

Just as people here are demanding that Obama start attacking McCain, they are getting an early start on attacking the likely nominee.

15. Well, they want to define Obama before he can define himself.
What is more, they seem to think that by defining him negatively, they can strike a blow against the entire Democratic ticket.

13. There is a GE for governor - the ad targets Dem candidates for that race
It banks on BO's "coatttails" - only not in the way you guys predicted they would work. But the ad is not against BO. I believe I read somewhere that MCCAIN changed his stance on this saying that Obama himseld declared Wright a legitimate issue.

They are pulling out all the stops to get her the democratic nomination. So far we are lucky Obama is such a strong candidate he can hold off the power of the Clintons and GOP together.

19. I have not seen the ad aired here in Charlotte
but even if they do, the backing for Obama here in NC is very strong and my guess is that no amount of GOP or media assistance will help Hillary make a dent in it.

22. Haven't seen it in Winston, but I thought no station was willing to run the ad
it might be a hit on You tube, but they will have trouble finding a station
in NC.

We're still embarassed over the Willie Horton ads.

And even some GOP are good people and find it disgusting.

23. hows voting going there, I don't have any contacts in Meck, touchscreen county
we've never been able to get rid of the touch screen voting in Meck,
and while things are much better now, new machines, vendor is better behaved,
SBOE has a voting systems project manager...

Still we would like to ultimately ditch the touchscreens.

27. I also wish they would dump the touchscreens here
but these touch screens do keep a printed record of the votes cast. You can see the votes you cast in a small window on the lower left corner of the machine. Whether those printed tapes are substituted for pre-printed tapes at some point after the polls close though is anybody's guess. Either way, I am looking forward to casting my vote for Obama, as well as votes for Richard Moore (Gov.), and Jim Neal (US Senate).

The ad starts running tomorrow. I am headed to NC this weekend to help GOTV and will be there until election day...this does nothing but strenthen my resolve!!

The ad will be running on four stations: WECT, the NBC affiliate in Wilmington; WCTI, the ABC affiliate in Greenville; WLOS, the ABC affiliate in Asheville; and WXII, the NBC affiliate in Greensboro.

21. cause GOP turnout is REALLY REALLY LOW
In my county only a handful of GOP have voted, then about a dozen unaffiliated and
thousands of DEMS>

There's a gubenatorial race and the GOP would be embarrassed if no one came to vote.

We are gaining on them in registration, but uh oh we have about 1 million independents!
Yikes.

28. It is not about the pres. race.
It is about local offices.

And the candidates have already been decided so it's open season.

Obama's supporters are a convenient target. And they want to use this as an issue.... in case he loses the nomination and it becomes a non-issue in the near future.

30. It's to create the illusion that McDinosaur is above dirty politics
IMO the entire thing was orchestrated so that McCain could show some false outrage and get angry at his own party for dirty politics. No better time to do that than while Hillary and Obama are still beating each other up.

35. Because the GOP knows that race is more important to white folks than ideology...
.... So if they send out a dogwhistle to Democratic white folks, they'll abandon Obama in a heartbeat. It's just how white folks are.

And it's reinforced when white folks feign no knowledge of this M.O.
