Let's Conduct an Experiment! No Cable News for 23 Hours!
Starting after Olbermann tonight until 8:00PM tomorrow. (I know how y'all love you some KO)

Let's tune out from the cable news hysteria for 23 hours and see what it does for the level of discourse in GDP and our collective sanity.

Let's stop being news "consumers" for one day and re-explore more substantive news sources.

Who's with me?

Turning off "Race to the White House"...now.

Wow. I think my blood pressure already went down! ;)

5. That's silly. Why would I quit watching TV for a whole day?
Why should I give up screeching about and panicking over every little peep pinched out by MSNBC, thereby giving up my one source of exercise? Good God, woman, this is America. I'll quit watching TV when you pry the remote from my cold, dead fingers.

9. I NEVER watch cable news. I never watch TV news of any kind.
It's all too biased, over-edited and abbreviated. There's no substance to it at all.

I get my news from the Internet.

10. I'm lucky - I only get half of it to begin with
For some reason no one knows, FIOS customers in northern NJ and Manhattan do NOT get MSNBC, so all I have to suffer through is CNN. Of course I also get Fox but I'd rather swim through a sanitary sewer than tune them in.

28. Why only 23 hours?
These people exist only because people watch them at all. I don't understand why anyone watches any of these sources. Turn on NPR and turn on PBS.

I also find excluding one particular MSM shill because he says what you want to hear pretty hypocritical. He is there for one reason only - to keep the demographic that agrees with him.

33. I haven't watched cable news in 7.5 years,
except for one morning because my son called me and yelled at me to "TURN IT ON NOW!!!"

I watched for 5 minutes and turned it back off that day: September 11, 2001.

Amazingly enough, I still manage to stay informed.

I realize some have to do recon to know what they're up to but the m$$$fm need to lose viewers en masse.

Do you feel like you missed out on anything?

Did you find more reliable and informative news sources?

How's the overall stress level?

Did you pet a puppy and kiss a kitty instead of feeling the urge to kick them?

"The Kite Runner" last night, glad i did.

I really, really detest cable "Opinion shows", they aren't "News" shows and when people figure that out they'll be better off. I get my actual news from the 2 newspapers i get delivered to my house and lbn which imo is great, news from all around the globe.
