1. What kind of action?
He's retired. I can't imagine what kind of action you mean.

5. actions have consequences
Mobilize to discourage financial material support. After 8 years of pseudo fascism, killing, maiming and torture, the world can not ignore Wright's infantile, destructive egomania

10. oh waaaaaaaaaa
Did Rev. Wright say we should commit violence? Did he get up there on the mount and say go kill people?

No he didn't, he had Freedom of speech and spoke out against injustice!

The 1st ammendment protects his Freedom of Speech! You might have a point if he got up there and said, let's go beat the living day lights out of people, let's go kill for the sake of killing!

While I didn't like his question and answer session today, he still in no way incited, encouraged or approved of violence toward anyone!

You can HATE the man all you want, You can HATE what he said, You can READ INTO something he said that wasn't there, You can HATE the man so much that you want to punish the church he used to preach at,

BUT what you cannot do in this country is take away his freedom of speech which is protected by the 1st ammendment of the Constitution!

He did not incite violence, he has spoken out against it.

I see you attacking Hillary in this thread about nuking Iran.

Just who are you here for? If you are against both of them, maybe you shouldn't be on this board, ya think?

19. I support Obama and realize the stakes, Hillary and McCain are heartless neocons
I don't hate Wright's message, don't think he's anti-American, and have questions about HIV and drugs in the inner city etc, but think it is unconscionable for him, an experienced public figure who knows the power of words, the importance of public perceptions, to sabotage Obama. He knows what he's doing.

27. Well then maybe they paid him off.
Wright comes across to me as an egotist and always did, though a
fascinating speaker. I used to tune in sometimes on TV when I got up
early in the morning and had nothing else to do before breakfast.

Objecting to his words requires consistency, as I repeatedly said
in the case of Don Imus.

I don't see that consistency on the part of his attackers.

When you attack a speaker for saying something, however vicious
or unpopular what he said might have been, your response is a
political act. Your silence when someone else says something worse
is a political act.

Where is that response? Why the silence at other comments by other
pastors? Do you let the media do your thinking for you? As Kerry
discovered, you need to MAKE the news.

write in and threaten to cut off our financial ties?

Try again, and this time don't be such an idiot.

23. Should we start harassing other churches because of the
disapproval you feel for something a pastor who no longer works there said, or is this one special? Harrassing religious institutions is not part of any political system that I want to be a part of....

24. I think only TUCC's parishioners and the other pastors there have ...
... the clout to persuade Wright to knock it off. I'm sure that some of them, worried about the effect on Obama, are trying to get him to stop. Who knows if they'll succeed. The guy seems too narcissistic to listen.

Think about what "Here's the address of the church MLK spoke at last night. Take action." meant in the 60s -- when white people down south passed out fliers to that effect.

anyone who thinks you should call some church that some guy doesn't even work at because it was his "black church" years ago is an ignorant bigot.
