For supporters of both candidates -
Please remember that no campaign was ever famous for going smoothly. We don't tell stories about how Zebedia Furlong's campaign for the Whig nomination went without a hitch.

All campaigns have rough spots - the stronger campaigns survive them. And if your candidate wins, he or she will just be the stronger for it.

5. And this primary has been VERY, VERY smooth.
I'm surprised that so many people think it's been rough.

6. As has been said by many this years slate of Democratic candidates has probably been the deepest in
years. I would argue since 1960.

People got very involved and very attached to the person they were supporting.

People put in a lot of time, energy and (in my case) money.

So it is only natural that people go over the top on occassion.
That negatives seem brighter.
The positives glow.
Mistakes by either side seem so damning.

In the end, those who strongly supported candidates that dropped out (like mine) gradually got over it, realizing there was something bigger than their candidate and themselves.

The bitterness felt by the losing side (Obama or Clinton) will, for the most part, pass -- except in the hearts and minds of the most embittered.

In the end, I think we'll be fine.

Two months is an eternity in politics. McCain continues to show how out of touch with ordinary people he really is and that will help enormously.

Both Clinton and Obama are a lot stronger candidates and are far more competant than idiots like russert and matthews seems to think.
And...mcbush is significantly weaker than the pundits think.

8. Not to mention the astonishing surge of Dem voter registrations . . .
Whether they'll show up in November is yet to be seen, but you sure as hell don't win if people *aren't* registering for your party.
