I'm tired of religion getting mixid in politics
I think that where our country is going wrong is letting to many religious leaders get mixed up in our political process. Look at how many right wing churches there are today and how involved they are politically. I think they should start stripping tax-exempt status of some of these "churches".

2. It would be nice, but America is eternally . . .

godstruck. No other first world nation professes to religious feelings so intensely and no other first world nation demonizes atheism (or even agnosticism) to the same degree. It's quite disturbing and (if you look at our history) keeps getting us into heaps of trouble.

In the 80s I thought we were following the European path of religion becoming increasingly irrelevant, but that was an illusion. And now Europe's going through an upsurge in believers (not Christians this time) that's disquieting in its own right.

Paraphrasing Henry II (or maybe just Peter O'Toole) "Who will rid me of these troublesome priests?"

3. What a country
People that are atheist or agnostic are always being told they are going to hell by everybody, even in a song on American Idol.

5. Some group number after the charity thing
They sang a few Christian songs this year. I'm not sure exactly how the lyrics go on all of them but the group number was disgusting and I haven't watched the show since.

6. Agree 100%
I'm more out being gay then I am being an atheist - and isn't that weird?

7. Thanks...
I pray to God that separation of church & state becomes the norm again.

9. Me too.
It is hard to figure where we get our morals from. I swear I know more good people who never go near a church than the other way around. Fact is I was in business with 'Christians' that were crooks from A to Z. It was scary as they did it all after they took out their Bible.
