Clinton Leads McCain by 9 Points Nationwide, AP Poll Shows

By Julianna Goldman

April 28 (Bloomberg) -- Hillary Clinton does better than Democratic presidential rival Barack Obama when matched against Republican John McCain, according to the latest Associated Press- Ipsos poll.

Clinton leads McCain 50 percent to 41 percent while Obama is ahead 46 percent to 44 percent, within the margin of error, according to the poll taken after Clinton's Pennsylvania primary victory.

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/04/19/921546.aspx

From NBC’s Domenico Montanaro
Hillary Clinton has regained the national lead, 46%-45%, over Obama, according to the Gallup Tracking poll. Clinton had been down by 11 points less than a week ago. This is the first time Clinton has led in the poll since March 20.

The general-election match up has seen no change. Clinton leads McCain 46%-44%, and Obama leads McCain 45%-44%.

35. Obama should withdraw and concede the nomiation to Hillary it would be the right thing to do! He
can't be trusted with such little experience and such a great job as president of the US. He can even get out from under the Rev. Wright mess. What a tenderfoot.

10. let's see who is leading the national race in a week or two
besides this is just one poll-other polls show Obama doing better than Hillary. Now that he has put Wright behind him (and even the media thinks he has) I believe he will get his usual edge back in all the polls. Heck, nationally he still leads Hill 49-41 in the Rasmussen tracking poll.

13. Hillary Math: 46-45% = tie; 45-46% = lead
I doubt this 'lead' (which, like a 1% 'lead' by Obama is within the margin of error and therefor meaningless) will last very long.

24. Should Hillary have withdrawn last week when Obama was up by 11 points?
And BTW, her so-called lead among Democrats is within the margin of error, but of course you failed to mention that. And most importantly, polls this far out from the election are meaningless anyway. Remember when Dukakis was leading Papa Bush by 18 points in early September?

43. Yes, if HRC backs up that poll with several more mos. of similar polls, gets a 100+ lead in pledged
delegates, commands a stiff lead in the popular vote, and wins most of the states.

Yes, I would say that Obama should get out of the way and stop using of much needed resources. It would be time for the party to sanction the clear winner, put the resources into the main fight at hand, and concentrate on getting the government back into sane hands.

I guess if Obama should withdraw due to falling behind in the Gallup poll that Hillary should have quit 21 times when she was trailing for 3 straight weeks by comfortable margins for Obama. (and Hillary was doing worse against McCain, too)

This is the middle of a gate-type week. It'll exhaust in a few.
