In what could be her first economic recovery proposal, Clinton has played "me too" once more with Sen. Inane, trying to out-pander a shameless Repug. They have both put forward "plans" without any bills to back them up. We can't get real legislation through the Congress as it is now, so both are just playing to the cheap seats. Just the idea that they both are merely grandstanding (have either spoken with the WH or their party leaders?) on this should be enough to make any of their other proposals for economic recovery suspect.
Does this "pat me on the back" gesture reflect the quality of HRC's 35 years of problem solving experience? Think we'll need some adult supervision to dig us out of the mess W has gotten us into.
Federal gas taxes help to fund the building and repair of US highways and interstates as well as being a major factor in the economic wellbeing of the construction industry. It's the lack of (or misuse of) these funds that resulted in the failure of the bridge in MN and can be seen daily by anyone who drives on the thousands of miles of federal highways so badly in need of repair.
Even her buddy Paul Krugman has his doubts:
--- I’ve been on the road (actually doing a public dialog with Barney Frank on financial reform), so I’m just catching up. Anyway, John McCain has a really bad idea on gasoline, Hillary Clinton is emulating him (but with a twist that makes her plan pointless rather than evil), and Barack Obama, to his credit, says no. ---
