Obama has been fully aware of these controversial opinions of Wright's for a long time.
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 10:14 PM by ginchinchili
Rev. Wright presided over Barrack and Michelle's wedding, baptized their children, was pastor of the church Obama has attended for over 20 years, the man Obama refers to as a "father figure." These opinions of Wright's are no surprise to Obama. What shocks Obama is that Rev. Wright is traipsing around the countryside repeating these controversial beliefs at such a politically inconvenient time for Obama. Wright was speaking the truth when he said that Obama is saying whatever he has to say to get elected. Barrack's goal of becoming president is more important than his personal integrity and his friendship with Rev. Wright.

3. It's like Wright wants to set himself up
as THE spokesperson for the AA community.
He is certainly no MLK and Obama has already dissed him as old and bitter (kind off in JW's eyes anyway.)
All depends on what kind of waves the man is allowed to make>

12. Everything mentioned is fact that Obama has made clear many times.
The only talking point is that Obama is saying what he has to to get elected and I'd say that's a pretty obvious conclusion.

The last few nights there were all kinds of people on here exclaiming how wonderful and brilliant Rev. Wright is. Do they still think he's wonderful and brilliant?

39. Brilliant...probably. Wonderful...as a prophetic speaker YES.
I don't think I'd be any more electable than Wright.

Also, I don't think Wright is correct in the details of all the issues he laid out yesterday. I don't think his ability to mock other people should be underrated either.

I think you probably should do a victory lap for Hillary. She managed to NOT pile on and gets the benefit of this news story.

The question is what does she stand for when race is not a factor.

4. You may or may not want to think upon this historical note:
"(Senator Joseph)McCarthy died in Bethesda Naval Hospital on May 2, 1957, at the age of 48. The official cause of his death was listed as acute hepatitis: an inflammation of the liver. It was hinted in the press that he died of alcoholism, an estimation that is accepted by contemporary biographers.
(snip) Robert Kennedy quietly attended the funeral in Wisconsin.

Maybe Obama can see in shades of gray when judging a person. Is that so bad in a President?

Obama is a reverse racist and you know it!!!

LOL- is that "working class" enough for ya? ;)

But seriously- dont expect otherwise intellignet Hillary supporters to look at subtle reality on this- they are in full on ignorant "working class" mode- only negative media perceptions and pushing the race-buttons of poor white swing-voters matter at this point...

18. Rev. Wright is much more that an acquaintance. He's a father figure.
Those were his words. I'm not sure what gray area you're referring to, but I know that if I attended a church and heard my pastor saying the kinds of things Rev. Wright says, I would cease to be a parishioner. There would be no gray area. It's clear as day.

Democrats got all upset when Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson made divisive comments not unlike Rev. Wright. The hypocrisy is smothering.

Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 10:31 PM by Dr Fate
I think she should keep saying that over and over- it pushes all the right buttons and gets the "working class" (AKA conservative swing voters) all lathered up.

Really- at this point, I think Hillary should keep on hammering it and talking about it non-stop.

20. I' m so sure Wright
gave controversial and inflammatory sermons at Obama's wedding and the baptism of their children. Probably ranted on about the government causing AIDS at the older daughter's baptism and 9/11 at the younger daughter's Baptism. Yell GODDAMNAMERICA! at their wedding, too!

Believe me, if Wright's rants were commonplace the RW would have more than a couple of 30 second soundbites to play over and over again.

67. Of what?
You don't really understand that Obama promise about reaching across the aisle, do you? That means shaking a lot of nazi hands. Really.

In a democracy, you don't "denounce" people you have to work with. You WORK with them. That was what Hillary did from the second she entered the Senate. She went to the people who hated her guts and made them her friends.

I admire that skill. Obama claims to have that skill. He ain't used it yet, I see.

68. Since when has Rev.Coe been a member of the Senate?
If Clinton is fine with a shitstain who thinks soldiers killing their mothers is a sign of high moral character, WTF is supposed to be wrong with Rev. Wright? Do you have to praise nazi lovers by calling them well qualified spiritual advisers?

62. Imagine if Wright says "Barack is lying. We spoke about this stuff many times and he always agreed."
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 05:36 AM by jackson_dem
Obama would be done if Wright does that...

Keep in mind Wright was not just his pastor. He was his mentor.

77. Spot on
And if Obama doesn't think this is how independents and the greater electorate will see it too, he's fooling himself.

87. Indeed, to believe otherwise
you have to believe that Obama, the lawyer and Constitutional scholar, had a complete lack of awareness of integral parts of his life - his most intimate surroundings and relationships.

Just not plausible - Something is wrong here.
