I found no passionate denunciation regarding Rev. Wright from Obama today.
I saw and heard a lot of hmmmmmmmmmmms, ummmmmmmmmms, and ahhhhhhhhhhhs.

People who are truly passionate about what they are saying have no need for such. They speak with a conviction that requires no pauses.

49. You have to be careful who you chose to help you run
for President. Both candidates have seen some go. Obama's minister is just another of those things which got out of control (thanks to the media). Rev. Wright loved the attention and money too.

I agree I didn't see any denunciation from Obama regarding Rev. Wright.

There's another questionable person in his campaign.

http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/919177,CST-NWS-pritz28.article Obama campaign financial adviser.

Hold on the kichen is getting pretty hot. What ever the reason or plan, they are always there. It might be the power which attracts them don't you agree?

23. Absolutely!
Wright on Moyers Show: "He's a politician, I'm a pastor. We speak to two different audiences. And he says what he has to say as a politician."

OBAMA, today: "And what I think particularly angered me was his suggestion somehow that my previous denunciation of his remarks were somehow political posturing...

73. Agreed. Totally stupid post.
Had Obama been "passionate" then they'd say he was "frazzled" or "irrational".

But if he gives a mature, respectful, and clear message, they call him "unpassionate".

WHAT THE FUCK EVER. They just don't like Obama, so anything he does they won't like.

I find some irony in the OP going to such petty lengths to find fault with the delivery of a non-rehearsed statement by Obama, when the sheer content of Hillary's statements provides true discussion fodder.

12. Some people just cannot face the truth.
A true denunciation from a political candidate faced with the likes of the things said by Rev. Wright would not have needed any pauses to think about what he or she was saying, especially when those things were a threat to his candidacy.

I have lived long enough and followed politics enough to know that for a fact.

15. T. Gal you are right on point there my friend. Plus, these questions
Edited on Tue Apr-29-08 11:32 PM by BenDavid
remain: Why did he stay a member of the congregation? Why didn't he speak up earlier? And why did he reward Rev. Wright with a campaign position even after knowing of his comments? Furthermore, after knowing about some of these sermons and having serious problems with some of their messages, why did Mr. Obama still decide to appoint Rev. Wright to his official presidential campaign religious advisory committee?(oh, I forgot obama forced him to resign)

Tenn. Gal you remember a few weeks ago obama said for the first time that had Rev. Wright not recently resigned as pastor of the church, he would have withdrawn. But that only reraised the same questions: Why didn't he act before the resignation? obama is big on the kennedy clan but he would have failed Robert Kennedy's test when one sees and hears bigotry."No – this is unacceptable." and "one that hears and sees bigotry or racism in any form must speak up then and not wait to do so". obama waited for 16 years to say anything and only after he had dug a hole so damn deep he cannot get out of it.

I say obama is more of a flawed candidate now and should just bow out and leave at least with his name intact.

Ben David

I have done it myself in much less important circumstances and/or forums.

When people are truly convicted of what they are saying it is easy to do.

This man is running for President of this country. He should be able to speak with an amazing amount of conviction. He did not do that today.

I think Obama made it very clear how angry he was. Just because he is understated and is not a Drama Queen doesn't mean he can't convey passion and conviction.

I'd rather have someone who is that way than someone like GW or Hillary or Bill who are histrionic.

58. So now you're emotional pokerface is the standard that we
have to measure our candidates by? I thought it was assinine when Obama supporters beat the Hillary crying in NH thing into the ground, because even if she isn't my first choice, she's better than McCain, and your opinion on this is equally full of shit!

41. I don't think speaking abilities are a fair way to judge someone's passion
Some people are totally full of it but can successfully convince anyone that they believe what are they saying 100-percent. (Some of them are sociopaths...)

Others sometimes stumble over every other word even if they're speaking straight from the heart. (I've had this difficulty at times myself.)

I can't say what I think of how Obama came across because I haven't seen this speech. I just think that, in general, the way that someone comes across in a speech is not necessarily the best way to judge their honesty/passion.

The words that finally came out here and there between the seeming hundreds of uuuuuhhs.... ummmmms.... ehhhhhhs... were about anger but they sounded hollow the way they were delivered without any sense of conviction. I got the impression Obama was feeling crushed over the media's response to Wright's outlandish performance before the press club and in that interview with Bill Moyers and was just fumbling around onstage in a fog trying to say something that might help him get this albatross off his back.

I never made a secret of starting this forum....I posted the link right on D.U. I even gave guests a place to post their side of things without having to register. What I didn't do was open the front door and invite them into our living quarters.....not out of fear but because I don't want to deal with constant flame wars on this board.

hnmnf is so busy congratulating himself on being too smart to post here to realize he has exposed himself for the coward and rat that he is.

75. Is everyone required to express their emotion the same way?
It seemed pretty deeply felt to me. That's possibly because I tend to speak the same way when something is coming from my feelings without a lot of preparation on the rational side. Maybe it's a guy thing? Anyway, I tend to speak with long pauses and make space filling noises while I'm waiting for the next words to find their way out. I've been told (by my former wife, for one) that it's quite difficult to listen to.

So, unless you're willing to tell me that I never speak from conviction, on that basis alone, then your OP doesn't hold up. Perhaps you can make an argument instead of just a claim?

Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 07:12 PM by mac2
For President of the world's most successful Democracy we don't want...

-A Hitler who brings genocide and world war for an elite rule.

-A Caesar who wants "unending war" to rape and rule the world leaving many societies far away destroyed and destitute for many hundreds of years.

-A Neapolitan who wants to unite all of Europe against their will.

-A Nero so self involved and selfish he ignores a crisis that destroys his great city while he fiddles.

-A Attila the Hun who murders everyone is sight to create fear thus forcing them to accept his rule.

-A Medici who feels he can have absolute power and wealth saying God appointed him.

-A king like Nicholas Romanov Tsar of Russia who lives lavishly and in arrogance while his citizens starve.

-A Stalin who murdered millions of his own people for power and a political philosophy.

-A Hoover who left people begging in the streets for food and homes because of his "do nothing" policy in a time when our country needed leadership.

Here's the historical first for the world…

-A Bush who pollutes and destroys forever the earth’s environment and resources for profit and power.

When you think about it, President Bush has done a little of all the above to America and the world. He should be impeached and tried at The Hague for environmental damage, war crimes against other countries who did not attack us, and breaking international treaties (signed by previous Congresses). He can not change those without Congressional and citizen approval.

We must learn from history not repeat or even add a new horror to the world.
