36. You mean die?
I really don't get it. If what you're asking is for me to get behind one of the remaining candidates, I'd have to ask why? It really doesn't matter at this point, I've already voted in my state's primary. I've also said I'm voting for the D in November, so I still don't get the point of this thread? Call me dense.

2. That "light" of which you speak is...
The spot light on stage as they come out to receive the party's nomination in Denver. Yes , Gore and Edwards...go into the light!

5. If the "supers" continue to "not decide" the first ballot in Denver ..
will bring no nominee, that opens the floor to the nomination of some one who can win....Gore.I see it happening.

9. We'd have to assume the "Supers" are all honorable....I think of Lee Hamilton
and Sam Nunn and the DLC members....and I shudder. They are the ones who work with the Repugs. I don't know that they wouldn't be okay with it all going to McCain. I know that's an awful thought...and I wouldn't have thought it a few years ago. But, looking at the 2006 Dem House and Senate...I realize that things are not what they seem with our Democratic Party as it stands now...

House Cleaning will take years. Who knew we were in this bad shape given the crimes of the Repugs we should have been golden. But, it's the media. And so many of our Dems in power helped give the MSM the dominance and refuse to fix the voting machines and process. So....this is what it is.

6. John and Al? Love 'em both but the window has closed for them some
while back.

There are a few wild cards in the deck that in the rarest of twists would deny nomination to both HClinton and Obama, but the odds of them being played this spring/summer are remote. Not impossible, but far away.

That said, in an Obama administration, how about Al Gore for EPA head and the Carolinian as AG?

8. You are seriously kidding yourself if you think Obama/Wright can win the general.
I don't think he'll get the nomination.

And it's an insult to President Gore to put him in somebody's cabinet. He has stated unequivocally that he's not interested.

Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 09:07 AM by Jennicut
I think he has had it with politics and he has a more important job-helping to save humanity. I support Obama but I think these two superdelegates need to remain unbiased in case this goes to the convention. I think John and Al have a lot of class and I respect their opinions greatly.

35. Gore has not said he wouldn't accept a draft.
That's quite a bit different than running in this very strange primary season we've been having. After Hillary and Barack finish bloodying each other so that we can't recognize them any longer, the Dem. party will need a unifying candidate who can surely win in November, and that would be Al Gore. So help us make that happen - go to www.thealgoresolution.com and see what we're up to. You might find it's a winning strategy and want to help out.

16. Gore did not lose in 2000
and I will vote for the eventual nominee of our party. These are the two truths that I know.

What has my continued support of a non-candidate done except help to continue to bring the issues he thinks important to the table? What's there to be afraid of?

If your candidate is doing so well and you are so confident they are going to win, why are you trying to recruit the undecideds?

17. Because it's similar to a form of Religion.
In the "pure" version, If I have "faith" that the way I believe is the one and only way, then I am remiss in my belief if I do not share it with you and eventually "convert" you.

In the "not-so-pure" version, If I allow YOU to have your opinion, then YOU might be right, and I might be WRONG. Therefore, In order to psychologically protect my faith/opinion, I have to CONVERT you, or INVALIDATE you. That is, your belief is wrong, who you believe in is false and evil, therefore I have the true faith, and if I do not convert you, then as you are not part of the "elect," then you are damned, and I should treat you that way.

25. Oh please
Did I push my "deity" (Obama) anywhere in this thread? I'm not trying to convert anyone, I'm just saying we're getting to the end of the process so let's give up the pipe dreams and coalesce around the winner.

27. No one used any candidate's name, and both camps are guilty.
When one assumes they are being talked about, Then they are paranoid, or there is some reason to believe they are the subject, or they are just mistaken. I'll assume you're mistaken.

I will "coalesce" in my own damned time. And any attempt to hurry or harass me only jeopardizes my eventual support.

Forewarned is forearmed. Nag me at your own risk.

30. If you are NOT a "proselytizing zealot," then I'm not describing you.
I think it's the automatic assumption that when one speaks about the "Generic" campaign supporters (the most ardent and obnoxious of those supporters, that is) then one camp or the other will assume you represent the enemy: that pushes my button.

Otherwise, Truce.

My new sig line is going to be:

"Here's to both Candidates and their campaigns...SUCKIN' MY DICK."

I won't even say anymore which I'd pick if you gave me my choice, other than not supporting McCain.

31. I did, in 1972. Fat lot of good it did.
I think my main point is that I may regard Clinton AND Obama as asshats without toleration of anyone's "...oh no ____ isn't!"

I don't have to agree with anyone. If I did, every Mormon or Jehovah's Witness who ever knocked on my door would have converted me on the spot.

I'm STILL an atheist.
