Step 1: admit you have a problem. Step 2, solve it.
I see threads where people talk about supporters of one democrat or another as "bots". Hillbots, Obamabots, Obamatons, whatever. Fucking Puppets. The GOP pulls the strings and we dance to their tune. My pre-teens have better behavior, and more respect, and are less easily manipulated then many here on DU. I see threads calling for "so and so supporters only". Then you go into those threads and they are nothing but a place to go flame supporters of one candidate or the other. And the worst thing about this is, people are enjoying it. Laughing about it.

Yesterday I confessed that I am as guilty as the rest. I let my zeal for my preferred candidate go to my head and I joined in the fray. I am an asshole. I honestly expected that thread to drop like a stone, as have my past "unity" threads. Much to my surprise the thread not only stayed up but got more rec's than all my other DU threads put together over the last 4 years. It's still sitting at the top of the home page. Du'ers have once again given me a glint of hope.

I am going to remind myself on a daily basis that this isn't about my candidate, or yours. This is about theirs. They must be stopped. There are people out there counting on us to put an end to this madness, not keep contributing to it. Soldiers, civilians, men, women and children who have much more at stake than political ideology. I'm not asking anyone to join me, I've learned that there is nothing I can do about how other people want to act. I'm telling you that I refuse to continue to be a part of the problem. Anything I post will now be reasonable, debatable and posted with respect for my fellow Democrats.

There was a funny thing about my thread yesterday that I want to mention, there were a number of people who mentioned that there were no responses from "ignored". What does that tell you? It tells me that there are people here who are here for no other reason than to stir up shit. When a thread comes along that's not conducive to their hidden agenda they run like hell. Here's to keeping them running :toast:

1. Yes, this is the paradigm of the Bushites, they can't run things themselves
so they spend every second of their times watching their perceived "opponents" and stirring up shit so they can't get anything done. The end result is a ship of state sinking like the titanic. We've simply got to pull it together ad be smarter than them at this point. Threads which complain about Hillary or Barack dividing us, for instance, are obviously stupid, being divisive themselves. But I see them so rec'd. Its a good time to wake up to all this, and you posts have been like an alarm clock. Thanks walldude.
