CNN's Blitzer FINALLY asks the question! ANY REAL CHANCE CONGRESS WILL SUSPEND GAS TAX?
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 03:19 PM by flpoljunkie
The answer from the CNN corrrespondent was, "This is going nowhere fast. It is a non-starter."

Nancy Pelosi also said any savings from suspending the federal gas tax for three months this summer doesn't have to be passed along to the consumer. We've been there, tried that, in other words. Nancy knows!

I see finally MSNBC has John Kerry on saying the same thing about suspending the gas tax for the summer. And, now, he's telling the talking head that media needs to let go of Reverend Wright and move on to the issues--health care, energy policy.

Do we want a real leader that will do something to make a real difference in our real energy policy and our lives? This guy had his narcissistic moment and now it is finished! John Kerry is POed! Go, John!

3. I think it is important for all congress critters
to stand up and get counted on this right now!

But even more important to hear how they are seeing this problem.

On one hand, consumers might benefit for as much as a week or two.

OTOH, Fuel taxes would never be restored, and the highway system would be about a year from unusable. Ok, only the parts with bridges and overpasses, but that is quite a bit of it, eh?

Loss of Level of Service would do more to destroy automotive commuter culture in the US than price alone will do. When you have to start taking a detour every five miles to avoid a fallen bridge, or cannot exceed 25mph without flatting in a massive pothole, that 60mile work round trip will not happen by car.

5. then why doesn't Clinton put her money
where her mouth is on this and GO to Washington and introduce a bill in the senate? Not ONE Hillary supporter has been able to answer this nagging little detail...why won't she LEAD on the issue instead of just pandering?
