Why can't Obama close the deal?
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 04:05 PM by lynyrd_skynyrd
Warning, Hillary loyalists, I'm about to bombard you with some cold, hard, numbers.

Massachusetts - 16%

U.S. Virgin Islands - 84%

The rest of the contests (such as California, the Texas primary, and Missouri, for example) were won by either Clinton or Obama by less than 10% and are not being discussed here. (And no, I'm not including Florida or Michigan, because they don't count).

Some facts:

Non weighted average winning margin for contests Obama won by 10% or more
32.59%

Why can't Obama close the deal? I think the question you ought to be asking is why can't Clinton take a hint.

15. I keep saying it -- he closed the deal in February.
Everything that's happened since then has been HRC trying to find a way around the fact that the deal is closed.

...(H)e closed the deal in February...

On Super Tuesday The First, Hillary did so badly that she needed to get 60% of the vote in all of the contests on Super Tuesday The Second to catch up. She came close only in Rhode Island. Having failed at that, she now needs 68% of the vote, and in ALL of remaining contests--WV and KY alone won't do. If she loses NC and gets less than 65% of IN, her "magic number" shoots up to 80% of the vote.

Even with the friendly subject line, not one Clinton supporter has a single thing to say about these numbers. Facts can be cruel.

17. It's possible your thesis is valid, but it's also possible that nobody
has the foggiest idea of what the actual vote was in any of the primaries you list.

When the vote is counted in total secrecy by private, highly partisan companies, almost always without verification of any kind (85% of the machines used in PA didn't even have any paper to audit) it's impossible have a democracy and obviously there's no reason to have the slightest confidence in any of the results. So all the theories being spun out based on these results are pure speculation.

Sorry, it's not "a deal." It's a solemn agreement between the people and their representatives.

26. "Why can't Obama close the deal?"
Obama has "closed the deal", and Her Royal Clintonness and her band of quixotic Hillarites think that by sticking their fingers in their ears and going "LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU! WRIGHT REZKO AYERS LA LA LA! WHY CAN'T HE CLOSE THE DEAL LA LA LA HE'S UNELECTABLE LA LA LA" somehow, in some magical way their Queen, Madame Inevitable, will receive the nomination in defiance of the will of the voters.

It isn't going to happen, but Hillary and her merry troop of apologist supporters keep acting as if she still has a chance.

30. I'm totally mystified with the continuing "contests" when he obviously won
There's no way she can win....if he gets even 16% in any remaining contest he is the winner with delegates. And he seems to have the BigMo with superdelegates also.

I think the "librul" media just wants a contest for ratings?

32. Sen. Obama is backed by We The People, Sen. Clinton is backed by:
The Neo-Cons, the right wing pundits in the MSM, FAUX News, Rush Limbaugh, Rupert Murdock, The Military Industrial Complex, the "War Pigs" and a considerable amount less of We The People.

Somehow, someway, for the sake of our country, our world, Senator Obama MUST win through.
