Chuck Todd: "talked to Republicans today who are 'disappointed' they won't be able to use Wright"
Is anyone watching Hardball (I know, bleh)? Chuck Todd just mentioned that he has been talking to Republicans today who are pissed off that they won't be able to use Wright to any great effect in the General. He said they are like "Oh well, can't do that now." He did mention that one Republican was hoping they could make it a word game ("but does he DISOWN him?!), which Chuck Todd and Chris Matthews kind of dismissed as stupid as well.

I just thought it was interesting, not saying that Wright won't be used in the general, but I still found it comforting.

2. If they do use him, won't have much effect at all. Old news by then.
Obama has weathered the storm nicely and is now MORE electable than he was before.

3. Matthews actually just got pissed off at a guest who brought up Wright during discussion on polls
Which was pretty funny since Matthews devoted the first segment of the show to that issue.

Maybe HE wants to be the only one talking about it . . .

6. They don't have a ratings getter so they have to give it up now.

4. They haven't got the memo
Somebody should tell that dumb-ass Watkins everytime they asked about Obama's ad he would say that he is just trying avert attention from having to separate from Wright.

5. I heard that too....

....I actually don't think Wright will be used in the general. As uncomfortable as this has been for the Obama campaign, this came at the right time to have little or no affect in the GE. McCain has all kinds of "pastor" problems - they won't use it.

10. No one believes that swiftboaters REALLY cost Kerry the election, the 15 numerical voter anomalies..
...were more of a factor especially when 8 of them were in the million to ones.

12. yeah, like I said, not saying that it won't be used in the general.

But I think Chuck Todd is right in saying that it may not have the same affect as now, according to the talks he has been having with Republicans, but that is just one MSNBC man's account. After all, Joe Scarsborough is always going onnn and onnn about how Republicans want to run against Obama. Plus, Kerry fucked up especially on that because he didn't respond to it at the time.

11. Chuck Todd and Rachel Maddow is Obama's only hope of keeping the facts straight.
They make great observations on the campaign and seem to be the only ones not wiling to jump on the Clinton/MSM bandwagon.

did he also talk to the Clinton campaign. Or is that one in the same now? Just askin'

16. Nobody tell Hillary, since she'll probably kill herself.
If she can't use the "Wright Controversy," I'm worried about what she might do.

17. You Cannot Believe How Glad I am to Hear That
This is Obama's crisis. However bad it looks now, it's not going to stand in the way of his getting the nomination.

What would kill him is if this cripples him in the general election. Americans have a short memory. I expect it blow over by then unless the GOP can resuscitate the issue.
