To Obama supporters concerned about Wright:
Get off DU for a day or two. Seriously. Please come back - this is a fantastic site and we need you. But, you've listened once too often to the FOX News/Karl Rove/Clinton Campaign spin machine. They're the only ones who are "concerned." This site, particularly this forum, has been inundated with them lately and they are following the script very tightly.

There's no reason to doubt Obama's lead or electibility. Obama's ahead in popular vote (not that it counts or is accurate) and pledged delegates and is about to become the Democratic Nominee for 2008.

You don't hear any donors or endorsements switching from Obama to Clinton, do you? No. You don't hear any calls for Obama to drop out of the race, do you? No.

Don't let them brainwash you. Don't believe the lies. Take a moment, breathe deeply, and remember the truth.

5. I just watched Obama's Rally in Indiana, and I'm
Fired up again.

Donated today.

Didn't watch ANY Teevee, and I'm feeling great!

The cynics are getting louder in their desperation and are trying too hard. Pretty soon, it will be obvious even to the intellectually lazy ones among us.

Oh well, I'll donate again now.. Great plan by the Obama campaign. I would love to see tons of Obama shirts out and about.

9. Good advice.
Though I don't think the true Obama supporters are concerned about Wright anymore.

It's the Obama "supporters" that are expressing their "concern" right now.

11. Another suggestion: Get on the Obama website or get to your local
Obama field office if you are in an active primary race state like mine. We are INUNDATED with people volunteering to
canvass and phone bank. It's very exciting here. If you have the time, come on down and help us. Get involved.
It's a sure way to cure the blues and to get yourself out of this toxic environment for a while. I worked this afternoon
at our office and it was so great to see all of the enthusiasm and to get back in touch with why I chose to support him
in the first place. :hi:

Ignore the spin even on here. Always judge each post very analytically. All Hillary hass won is right wing extremeists all we have to do is point out why this is bad for Democrats. His figures will alter logically should he get the nod.

14. Thanks --
for posting this, and tapping into my angst. I'm fairly embarrassed, because I feel like crying all the time since this latest Wright debacle! Like my heart has been broken. I know the thoughtful among us are not swayed one bit by it, but I'm afraid there is a criticial segment of the voting public that is.

I've been analyzing and re-analyzing my support for Barack, and I'm VERY CLEAR where it comes from. To some degree, beyond his intellect, his eloquence, his rich powers of perception, and his magnetic personality, it is about the symbolism of electing someone young, multi-cultural, with a completely new way of approaching problems. Take his views on the gas tax, espoused today. He tells it like it is: YOU CAN'T HAVE IT ALL. IF YOU WANT SAFE ROADS, YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM. Like it or not, he tells the truth, tells us what we may not want to hear, and treats us like adults. The fact that he is not a white male is only a "fringe benefit," to me - I would support anyone with his politics and positions.

Glad to find like-minded folks here; probably good advice, to unplug, for a bit.

Thanks again.

16. Sorry....I think he's got problems.

Nomination is a done deal. Electability, OTOH, is now hugely problematic... in large part 'cause of Wright. And by 'Wright', I mean Obama's mishandling of Wright.

People who think this isn't significant aren't talking to enough non-DU people and/or don't remember how well the GOP can exploit any weakness. Wright is made to order: they don't even have to make stuff up... as they did ( successfully) with Kerry; they simply have to roll the tape.

20. Democrats won't vote for Obama because of his Pastor?
I don't think you lose elections because of your acquaintances, nowadays it's about how well you can avoid being defined by the repugs. Obama is very good about getting on top of the "messaging" and compared to "flip flopper" "war monger" "Bush 2" I think Obama is in good shape.
