Where was the uproar when white Ron Paul blamed the US for the 9-11 attacks?
Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 11:20 PM by vegetabletasty
I'm wondering where was the outrage, the front-page pictures with big bold headlines, when Ron Paul said to Rudy Giuliani in a GOP debate last year,
"They attack us because we've been over there, we've been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We've been in the Middle East. I think Reagan was right. We don't understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics."

Fox News reported it as if it was nothing. Their headline read, 'Rudy Giuliani Squares Off With Rep. Ron Paul Over 9/11 at GOP Debate'. That was it.
And don't get me wrong. I agreed with Ron Paul for stating the obvious, just like I agreed with Wright in that particular statement, although he used "the chickens came home to roost" which summarizes what Ron Paul said.

4. Oh man. That's why I avoid logic. It usually leads to uncomfortable realities.

3. Two points
1) The media didn't care because Ron Paul had no chance of winning the nomination, unlike Obama. That's like expecting the same level of coverage for both Obama and Gravel.

2) It STILL got lots of coverage. Paul was blasted viciously by every right-wing media source out there and banned from several debates.

5. Yes, but Wright is not running for president
The fact that Ron Paul was a fringe candidate can be balanced with the fact that Obama didn't say those words about 9-11. Wright did.

6. If Ron Paul were one of Obama's
friends, acquaintances, family members or donors it would be headlines. And it would be all Obama's fault.

But he's a Republican and as outrageous as his views may be within the Party, he's still a Republican and they do a pretty good job of not speaking to ill of each other.

7. He was not permitted in the GOP Debates for a couple
of Debates.

Ron Paul never was and never will be frontrunner. He does
not therefore get coverage of a Frontrunner.

10. Yeah, in this instance, Ron Paul's crazy ass was right.
A sign of the apocalypse, for certain, that a Libertarian wingnut like Ron Paul got something right.

14. Where I enjoy the conspiracy folks the most, is when they say it was an inside job
and at the same time that we deserved it.

LOL!

Rev. Wright occasionally makes sense to me, but he needs to go away. He's not helping anybody but himself here. Tweety suggested that Wright is shopping a book deal. Why would a self-righteous Christian throw someone under the bus unless there were a few pieces of silver up for grabs? It's not like it hasn't happened before.

I was raised as a Southern Baptist. At that time the SBC was very big on the separation of church and state. Actually, that was their claim to fame from the get-go. Not so much anymore.

As a nation on the world's stage, I believe we are already lost. Any leader from either party will have a hard time turning the * years around. And * has much more time to damn and destroy US and our Constitution. If the * regime fulfills a military strike on Iran, we are truly fucked. It will be timed to resonate with the DNC convention in August with the additional coverage of * appearing at China's Olympic events in September because the action would disinvite him. And China owns US. Our only remaining leverage is our demand for China's "cheap" goods. I can only hope China sees it that way when the US diminishes their oil supply.

If you were a neocon republican, how would you hedge your bets when your nominee is John McCain? You would want to run against to candidate's agenda in the mideast that is most like yours. That would be Hilary Clinton. It doesn't hurt that her negatives are so high that McCain might actually be favored. What's not to lose for them here?

We need drastic change. No more dynasties. We need diplomats like President Carter in the ME, not occupying armies. Let's get them the fuck out of there. And that includes the third party contractors. They give us no pride.

Obama being black and thru guilt by association to Wright who, through an out of context sound-bite made by Wright (not Obama), somehow says Obama hates America? but thats the math (both sides of this equation match!)....word to the wise...always bleach your skin or america dameth you.
