Angry White American Woman for Obama, and you?
Let's hear your stories, my fellow, um, what shall we call ourselves this evening... Oooh! How about "Proud Obamatrons"?

Though I'm fairly sure that some Hillary supporters would prefer "Obamites", fuck it.

We're taking it back!

Aloha to you too!

:hi:

And it's nice to see that a fellow woman right in Her Royal Clintonness' so-called "key" demographic didn't buy into her bullshit.

I don't count, according to Hillary, because I'm too young. Go figure...

30. Oh you count alright, it was our teenage daughter who convinced both ...
my husband and I to take a GOOD LOOK at Obama. My husband was a very loyal Bill Clinton supporter throughout the 90s, but he even changed his mind to Obama before our Primary in Virginia.

We need to FOCUS MORE on "Young Americans" (teens, twenties and thirties) because any parent worth their salt, should strive to leave The World "a better place" for their children.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. :hi:

Women's issues do matter. I don't want the good ol' boys making the decisions for me any more than I want the women doing that.

I want my elected representatives, and the president for that matter, to listen to me. Their gender has nothing to do with how well they listen.

That's all.

12. Yeah, I know!!!
This vagina, which has been NOTHING but trouble from age 12 on, should TOTALLY dictate who I support.

:)

Call me crazy, but this on-again, off-again ardent feminist will go for the candidate who at least isn't so upfront and in-your-face about his ambition, and is pleasantly lacking in hubris, unlike his opponent.

Oh, and that same guy seems to embrace the principles of the Democratic party much more than his female opponent, and most importantly, not reach out to the lowest common denominator while doing so.

I must be a "gender traitor", right?

For that mythical, non-existent undecided, I say: Vote Barack Obama throughout 2008.

well, that is one of the qualifications for being considered a woman, and since I should support Hillary because she's a woman, I kinda figured the whole vagina thing was one of the reasons

You offered no other reason for supporting Hillary than that she is a woman (therefor, the owner of a vagina), so I figured, if that was your key requirement in a candidate, why not shirley phelps roper?

29. Count me in
I am 65 and after this many years of activism I agree with the person above me, time to turn this fight over to the next generation and we should hang our head in shame for the mess we left it in for them. I wanted to vote for a woman, after all I am an old feminist, but all I can see is Hillary giving women a really bad name and is an embarrassment, ruining women's chances for decades. I am VP in an organization that represents thousands of educated, corporate women leaders and they are moving away from Hillary like flies. They don't see her standing up for women, she hasn't in the Senate, why would she now, because she says so? I don't think that's good enough. She also said on four different occasions that she was running from sniper fire in Bosnia, that wasn't true either.

I know what it's like to be sixty and the young faces and new ideas begin to rise to the top and it's sad to watch the older men and women hang on refusing to let go of a time that's passed them by. They don't know how to lean back and mentor the new person up the ladder, they don't know how to step off stage, they simply become a pitiful caricature of themselves. I watch Hillary with her fantastic make up artist, the bright suits to brighten up her face, the scarves to hide her neck, the heightened color in her hair and I feel sad for her because I know she has to work so much harder to make a positive effect.

Sure she knows her history and the facts around them, at her age she lived them, what she doesn't have is new fresh ideas. I don't know where Obama plans to lead us, he may be just terrible and we will regret voting for him; but I look at the rapidly growing wasteland behind us and the Clinton's were a big part in creating that wasteland.

If she could just admit that she can be an important voice for the next generation, but she isn't the next generation, not in heart or mind, she is steeped in the past and she keeps telling us that. I look back at the United States and the rest of the world and I know we have to go forward, we cannot go back, Obama and the new generation seemingly are trying to take us forward and I am walking in that direction

of your generation, the ones who did activism when it was fashionable, switched over to yuppiedom when the time came, and always put their own wealth, security, and pleasure ahead of all else, and think they're never going to die.

You and my parents aren't that way, but unfortunately, many of the Boomers (especially those a few years younger than you) are.

37. Right
I absolutely agree with your comments. Fighting for Black Civil Rights came way before the anti war protests. Civil Rights protests started in the late 50 and early 60's and I started there, as a white person standing up for those rights and then we just rolled on into the anti-war protests, the Clintons would have joined in then when it was the thing a couple of liberal hippies would have done.

That was a pretty good one.

I've never been the fan club type and I'm still not, I like Obama well enough but I see plenty of faults too. Main thing I hope for from him is maybe a step up in the tone of debate, more issue and less soundbite. A step in the right direction maybe but I'm not expecting miracles.

In the end he'd have been my choice by default because of the Clinton history and the way she ran her campaign. I could have easily overlooked some of the choices her husband made if she made it clear she was something totally different but instead she seemed to become more and more entrenched in the politics of the 90's and ran as if Obama was the dem and she the repub. Doesn't offer me much reason to hope she'll act more like she should if rewarded for it so I'd support Obama to keep her out if for no other reason than to not reinforce the idea that dems should act like that. I don't want to see her in any way rewarded for this campaign.

Since we can't seem to get a populist or anti-imperialist presidential candidate past the MSM, it will have to be Obama, who at least wants smart wars. If waged for imperial domination, just as bad morally, but in practice fewer people get killed.

Also, he can organize. He wants people to get involved, has succeeded in getting many more new people involved, and always says that he won't be able to get anything done alone.

62. Indeed.
And it was the mythical "co-presidency" that wouldn't take a stand for what's right, and blessed the LGBT community with "Don't Ask Don't Tell".

57. This 68-year-old woman
is for Obama all the way. I'm a bit bitter, but more angry than bitter. This country needs new ideas and a new way of running things. I'm tired of the "ugly American" stereotype. I want a country that can solve problems and make the world a better place - not safer with the use of or threat of force - I want it safer because it is better. It don't want my grandchildren to be sent off to fight in wars. I want a president who listens and one with judgment. That is Obama.

60. Another "demographically Hillary's base" but still supporting Obama
My bet is that once Obama is the nominee and his campaign starts to focus on McCain's terrible stances on all kinds of women's issues (not mention his frightening foreign policies and clueless domestic ones), my demographic will rally around Obama real fast.

I actually like the term Obamatron. Kind of sounds like a robot. I like robots.

And 9 out of 10 robots agree. Hillary Clinton can bite my shiny metal ass.
