Sad
Edited on Thu May-01-08 12:49 AM by Tropics_Dude83
What has happened to Senator Obama is very sad. He was a superstar after that convention speech in 2004. A electrifying democrat unlike any we had seen in years. If only he had waited until 2012 or 2016 to run, things would have been different I'm sure. Wright would have been a distant memory and experience wouldn't have been an issue. He would have had a cakewalk to the nomination in 2012 or 2016. No long bitter primary battle. A superstar senate tour d''force for years.

Instead, we have just witnessed the fall of this party's brightest shining light. I'm not overjoyed to be supporting HRC at this point. She's just the best of the available candidates. Every democrat's heart should break for Barack and especially Michelle right now. Maybe he can follow President Jimmy Carter's post presidency route to rehabilitate his image once this campagin is over.

Anyway, yeah, I just wanted to thank Senator Obama for bringing new voters into the process and for creating tremendous excitement in this primary. I wish him all the best in his future endeavors. It's not like he'll read this or anything but still. Best wishes to them. And no one should dare question my sincerity in this post. It is 100% sincere. Thanks.

62. This reads like a Mafia hit man saying...
"You knowz, its tragic how dis guy slipped on dat bar
of soap in his shower and fell onto dose 42 .38 calibre
bullets. And even after dat bad luck, he still was strong
enough to manage to get back up and get to da stairs,
where he en fell down da stairs breaking both of his
legs, his arms, and his skull. And somehow he still
managed to get out da front door whereupon he was
accidentally hit and squashed flat as lasagna by dat
garbage truck dat somehow came screamin' around da corner
at dat moment.

What a tragic accident to happen to such a nice guy!"

I don't want to be supporting Hillary for stupid reasons like what some whacko minister said. Obama doesn't share those views. We all know that. It's what the media has done to him and made him appear to be. I support Hillary for one reason and one reason alone. Electability. I can never be passionate about her. My heart is still with Barack. It's like, whenever we're on the cusp of real change, we lose it.

At least Hillary can win and lead us in a different direction than Mccain I guess

Whatever. The media will get its way I guess. HRC knows how to take them on at least. Another reason to support her.

I know. You all are probably reading this thinking it's contradictory. It is. I'm frusturated with the media, angry with Barack for not recognizing the Wright problem, sad to see his star diminished, and my head looks at Hillary's strength with whites, with catholics, with jews, and sees her as the one that can beat Mccain where Obama can't.

9. What's sad are the few - the very few - who are writing him off so quickly!
What I saw was a man willing to own his emotions, willing to accept responsibility and shift course (on Wright), and willing to focus on issues that people truly care about. One wacko preacher will not bring down the candidacy of a person so special - we only see the likes of them once in a generation.

Nobody can unify our country and our country with the rest of the world like Obama.

Despite her best efforts, it hasn't happened... but if it had this post would be like someone declaring how broken up they were about the civilian casualties in Iraq while throwing their full backing behind the people who made that happ^^^... oh, wait, maybe I should pick a "this would be like" example that you're not actively involved in actually doing.

49. Everytime I get pissed at Hillary and am just about to foreswear voting for her if she wins the nom
Edited on Thu May-01-08 01:37 AM by anonymous171
I just remind myself, "It's her or Bush's third term."

Oh, and it would be so hilarious to see the conservatives go batshit insane after their worst enemy, Hillary Clinton, is handed all the executive power and privilege they gave to Bush. Sweet, sweet revenge.

59. Obama is still the likely nominee, no matter how hard you wish that
Edited on Thu May-01-08 05:14 AM by cali
not to be true. He hasn't fallen over Wright. And furthermore, Hillary, the loser, will be the one who emerges from this tattered, tarnished and done for any future national run. Even in NY her popularity is dropping. She may emerge from this race covered with so much stink, that her chances there are damaged.

So cheer up, Obama will likely be the dem nominee, and he'll have demonstrated that he can deal with potentially crippling attacks. That bodes well for the general.

I'm sure you're sincere, so I know you'll be excited about Obama as the nominee after hillary packs it in. I hope she'll become a better Senator and won't vote for such things as war and K/L in the future. She'll no longer have to prove how tough she is. Maybe she'll learn that strong and tough aren't synonymous.

60. Wait a second, just because you changed your allegiance, it
does not mean that Senator Obama will not be the nominee. Get a grip. I like to say something to you but I pledged that I will not say anything against a Hillary supporter. Let me rub this in your face, your candidate is not going to be the nominee, be prepared to jump ship again. Am so frigging tired of all the negativity you all throw against a Democratic candidate. You should be ashamed of yourself! Both of them are Dems, why this divisiveness?

Why indeed? Why do we feel the need to rub anything in anyone's face here?

So much hate. :-(

64. If he had just waited??
Oh I see, if he had not tried to jump places in line, Hillary wouldn't have had to trash him by surrogate. Yeah. That'll teach him to mess with the "inevitable" candidate. It's his fault all this went down because he didn't wait his turn.

Gotcha.

75. Obama could've perhaps saved his credibility
by distancing himself from Wright several years in advance of a run for President - as it stands, it just looks like political expediency.

Too bad; Obama will go down in history as a joke. If he can keep his Senate seat, Obama can always go sulk with Ted Kennedy.

WTF, Obama has one or two bad weeks and you give up on him.

How come we haven't seen posts like this from you in all of the states that Hillary has lost her leads; which is like almost all of them?

78. It's people like you Tropic_Dude83,
That will keep me in the Obama camp even if for some horrible reason he is denied the nomination. If your candidate, whose name I refuse to mention, gets the nomination, not only will I campaign against her, but I will try to convince my friends to either leave the ballot blank or vote for Cynthia McKinney.

This whole "It's My Turn" spiel has hurt the Democratic Party. Tropics_Dude83, had you been around in 1960, you would've been a supporter of either Hubert Humphrey, Lyndon B. Johnson, or Adlai Stevenson and told John F. Kennedy to wait his turn. Is that you? Be honest!

This is a free country and Barack Obama is of age and a U.S. born citizen. For you and your candidate's suporters to deny this man the nomination shows a lack of class and graciousness because of your zeal to win. It will cost you in the end, mark my word.
