The more you Know About Stuff, the more attractive Obama seems. I wonder why that is?

Who are you to preach or condescend to anyone--or suggest what kind of attitudes will or won't get
a candidate into the White House--when you stand here representing name calling and disinformation?

10. Unfortunately, that's actually a detriment to Obama's electoral prospects
It makes it easier for opponents to paint him as out-of-touch, elitist, an "egghead", and so on... And there are plenty of recent examples of Democratic candidates hurt substantially by that tactic: Adlai Stevenson, Dukakis, Gore, Kerry, etc.

11. Simple answer.
He appeals more to the eletist, Indies and Repubs and they're the ones with money. Hillary appeals to the working class...the true Democrats. It has nothing to do with knowing stuff. That's why she appeals to the working class...they know where their bread is buttered and don't vote against their own interests.

22. Is it really accurate to tag the "working class" as the "true Democrats"
Edited on Fri May-02-08 10:57 PM by last_texas_dem
as if they're somehow the party's base? I believe that the Democratic Party is the party that promotes the economic agenda most helpful to the working class, and I hope that they always stay that way. But working class voters don't seem to be anymore faithful to the party than upper middle-class "elitists." Other than the very poor and the very rich, Americans in general seem to be "swing" voters. Democrats can't win if they neglect the working class but they can't win without those damn "librul elitists", either...
