1. Sometimes VPs have been changed at the convention
A few examples that come to mind: Gerald Ford dropped Rockefeller for Dole in 1976. FDR dropped Garner for Wallace in 1940, and Wallace for Truman in 1944. Lincoln dropped Hamlin for Johnson in 1864 as part of the "National Union" Ticket; Johnson was a War Democrat.
The only time I can think of a VP candidate being replaced after the convention was in 1972 when Eagleton withdrew a couple of weeks after the Dem Convention and was replaced by Sargent Shriver.
