Clinton adds 2 delegates from PA: & Clinton pulls ahead on Texas superdelegates

Clinton adds Texas superdelegate
by Foon Rhee, deputy national political editor
May 2, 2008 05:52 PM

Hillary Clinton announced a superdelegate late this afternoon,...........

Jaime A. Gonzalez Jr., a Texas attorney, has been on the Democratic National Committee since 2000. Clinton narrowly won the Texas primary on March 4, though Obama emerged with a small gain in delegates because of caucuses held simultaneously.

I am supporting Hillary Clinton because I am convinced that she is the best choice for President, Gonzalez said in a statement issued by the Clinton camp. She has shown the leadership qualities that we need to win the presidency in the general election and give Democrats a victory in November.

Clinton pulls ahead on Texas superdelegates
4:34 PM Fri, May 02, 2008

Obama claimed an undecided Texas superdelegate yesterday. This afternoon, Clinton kept pace by announcing another one for her collection, though his support has been previously reported: Jaime Gonzalez Jr., a trial lawyer, and a DNC member since 2000.

"I am supporting Hillary Clinton because I am convinced that she is the best choice for President," Gonzalez said in a statement released by the campaign. "She has shown the leadership qualities that we need to win the presidency in the general election and give Democrats a victory in November."

The tally now stands:

Clinton: 13
Obama: 12
uncommitted: 7

And who are these uncommitteds?
Linda Chavez-Thompson, national DNC vice-chairwoman
David Hardt, Young Democrats of America president
US Rep. Nick Lampson of Stafford
Boyd Richie, state chairman
Betty Richie, Boyd's wife and a party official
Rep. Ciro Rodriguez of San Antonio
Bob Strauss, former national party chairman

Note:
There's a discrepancy on lists floating around the news media and political websites regarding Robert Martinez of Dallas, an official with the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. State party spokesman Hector Nieto assures me that Martinez has, in fact, endorsed Clinton.

Clinton Wins 2 More Delegates From Pennsylvania
Posted May 3rd, 2008 by John Richburg

Sen. Hillary Clinton closed the Pennsylvania's Democratic primary winning two more delegates on Friday. Winning two more delegates in Penn, Her margin of victory over Sen. Barack Obama rose to 12 delegates.

The final two delegates could not be awarded before yesterday because there were incomplete results in two congressional districts.

The Pennsylvania Department of State released results for all congressional districts on Friday, with 100 percent of the precincts reporting.

So, according to the current Pennsylvania Delegate Count, Clinton has now a total of 85 delegates in Pennsylvania, while Obama has 73 delegates. The final results showed Clinton winning the primary with 54.6 percent of the vote, to 45.4 percent for Obama.

5. Read the links...

After all of the lies spread here by the Obama supporters....I think I would believe the State Party Spokesman. :eyes:

10. Aren't they add-on superdelegates? (i.e. SDs but not momentum-shifting/endorsement SDs)

15. No -- those won't be chosen until June
Edited on Sat May-03-08 01:32 PM by Yael
Here is a good chart.

What this is saying is that (for example) District 7 will change from 4-3 to 5-2. I am waiting on the district counts to be published so that I can update this. (The +1 next to the 4 is for the SD endorsement)

The unpledged (Super delegates) total 3 and they won't be named until June (they are listed as TBD at the bottom).

11. I know David Hardt...I think this is why one of my friends at YDA said he is going
keep the three supers we have uncommitted. He want some serious concessions from the nominee in helping youth issues.

And not just college kids but post college.

19. Kind of funny Ciro Rodriguez is still uncommitted - he should be in the bag for Clinton
Bill came down to San Antonio to give a rally speech for him when Rodriguez was facing a tightly contested run-off. Yet no support from him now, he's resisting the back-room arm-twisting the Clintons are trying to use to win the nomination.

It's also funny when Hillary supporters try to use math, something they clearly don't understand.
