From An Obama Supporter - No More KY Derby/Hillary Posts
It's a tragic thing that happened to that horse and it's sick to be comparing it to Hillary.

As much emotion as there is on this board with the election -- and I'm just as guilty as anybody of that -- let's stop going there. It's vile.

4. Agreed 100%
It's one thing for Obama supporters to be happy about the results of the race itself, with the new and untested horse beating the horse Hillary picked. But the fact that the horse had to be euthanized is tragic for everyone, regardless of which candidate we support.

No reason to make such a comparison, especially since the horse was euthanized. I am an animal lover and I hate to hear stuff like this - poor animal.

The death of that filly was a tragedy.

The end of Hillary's campaign will be something to celebrate.

The comparisons are loathsome, and it's truly sad to be discussing the death of yet another horse in racing.

32. As a fellow Obama Supporter I completely agree
I always watch the Derby, my parents live in the area and it's kind of a family tradition, we all pick our horses and for those few minutes we are all "together" no matter where we are, rooting on our choices. I feel SO sorry for that jockey and 8 Belles. Sometimes, I really hate that sport. Love/hate relationship.

To relate that tragedy to this campaign is rediculous and plain wrong.

34. I completely agree. It was tragic--that horse raced her heart out.
It must have been a devestating injury.

Sadly, too, it took something away from a magnificent victory by Big Brown, who didn't even break a sweat.

I love racing, love the Thoroughbred breed, but God, I hate when this sort of thing happens.

because so far i gather a horse was put down because of a track injury? I also get the impression that Hillary supporters seem to be related to this horse....what relation does this horse, or then, horse racing, have to do with the primaries?

Thanks for helping me out...i am lost

I'm also confused about what this is all about.

52. filly- young female horse- not a breed. She was the only female
in the race.

And she came in second even with her injuries.

I hate horse racing.

Hillary had made a comment earlier this week about 'betting on the filly'.

I missed all the posts that must have sparked the need for the OP- but I agree that this is not something to joke about.
And not something to be used for political fodder.

peace~

more.

I knew it was bad when I saw her down.

What a tragic end- I'm glad she didn't suffer long.

Everything shouldn't be seen through the lens of politics- no matter how much encouragement there is to do just that.

Lets let 8 Bells rest in peace.
