REWIND: Clinton predicts his wife will win by "good margin"
Former President Bill Clinton told a crowd in western Iowa today that his wife, Hillary, will win the White House in 2008 "by a pretty good margin."

To Clinton supporters: What the heck happened? How did Hillary find herself in this mess with almost no path to being the nominee, and trailing behind the underdog?

2. It was her iraq vote- if she'd not voted yes, Obama wouldn't even have ran in the first place

4. I think if she had made the same apology that Edwards made we might be...
looking at a different story right now. Also the Iran vote didn't do anything positive for her either and of course we all know that its gone down hill from there (Pardon the pun).

6. I don't know, despite the apologies, Kerry and edwards both looked bad
once you've made such an error of judgement, it's really difficult to regain credibilty.

But yes, her unwillingness to admit it was wrong, didn't help.

8. THANKS FOR SAYING THAT
if she had had "testicular fortitude" at that moment she would be the nominee because it wouldnt matter what OBAMA had been against or for. You are right she would have had it. Cant believe more people dont see that. We took over congress on that one issue alone, and people are pissed off at congress (the HIGH unfavorables) because we wont do anything about IRAQ. Apologizing (a la Edwards) wouldnt help her it was her vote plain and simple.

11. I'll agree with this.
There never would have been an opening for Obama if Senator Clinton had shown good judgment when it mattered.

and got to cocky. People are just tired of the same old politics, its always campaigning and making promises but once they get in Washington the work is over. The message Obama came out with is reasonating with people and he has such a way of talking to them, I don't think the Clintons were ready for the change the American people want.

7. Hillary ran her campaign overconfidence style , not new restaurant kitchen style.....
Edited on Sat May-03-08 08:00 PM by DB1
In a restaurant kitchen you have to be good and fast and way better than anyone expects. Same goes in politics. Apparently it was too hot in the kitchen for her.

9. Also she thought it would be over soon
and never bothered to organize in the caucuses, so there was an Opening for OBAMA. She had always been organized well in the BIG states because she didnt have any reason to think that she wasnt going to win, so thats why I believe she has won most of the big states (because she was in and with big money long before OBAMA). But he did the right thing and knocked big state leads down to managable margins +9 in Ca and PA etc. to where her delegate lead dissapeared. Thats actually the best arguement on why HE should be the nominee, she had big money early, big organization, the big dog, etc and he picked a strategy and will win with it. If anyone thinks he cant apply that to the general is a loon.

more Hillary signs and outspoken people at first but when people walked in to caucus they were ready to vote Obama, and when it came down to discussion amongst the undecided, the Clinton stronghold of experience did not carry much weight.

14. Bill Clinton said this TODAY and not during the Iowa caucus back in Janaury?
Edited on Sat May-03-08 09:01 PM by rocknation

But seriously, folks, I think what went wrong for Hillary is simple: People prefer what Obama is peddling. He calls it hope; I call it personal political empowerment.

He tapped into eight years' worth of American alienation, helplessness and frustration and asked, "At long last, haven't you ENOUGH shame?" Then he reminded us, "America is about 'We the people,' and we the people CAN!" His Iowa win was dismissed as a fluke, but it was his razor-thin New Hampshire loss that made his supporters say, "Hey, this 'yes we can' stuff really DOES work!" The rest is history--well, history in the making.
