Carville: "Obama has 1.2 million donors. That's not a donor base.. that's a POLITICAL PARTY."
Edited on Sat May-03-08 10:08 PM by scheming daemons
About mid-way through this video from the other day:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=4ACAOYv3DKk

The old lizard is evil, but he's dead on with regards to this.

Obama has changed the way politics works.... the lobbyists have less sway.... which is why the corporate media is now trying to destroy him. His style of politics, from their perspective, cannot be allowed to succeed.

Having politicians that get 90% of their money from sources OTHER than lobbyists puts K-Street out of business.

ON EDIT: THE OWNER OF THE VIDEO HAS TAKEN IT DOWN. I suspect that the owner is a Clinton supporter who became uncomfortable that Obama supporters were using Carville's words to Obama's benefit. Oh well.... sorry.

58. Ummm.... if Obama wins, it would be akin to an electoral victory
Of all things, it would NOT be a "coup" -- since he's simply winning an election. (I understand, I believe, the point you were trying to make, but calling an electoral win a "coup" diminishes the term's meaning.)

He should lecture now because his skill set is obsolete in the party.

I wonder how many DU Clinton supporters have seen this video?

When we say the exact same things they refuse to listen to us.

14. I was proud to canvass for Obama today
it was a great experience.

People were appreciative that someone cared enough about them to come
to their neighborhood and remind them to vote, give them information on Obama
and info on where and when to vote, plus a toll free number to call for help.

I told them that I was going door to door because I felt that Obama was a
once in a lifetime candidate, and wanted to do everything possible to
help him get elected.

30. I don't dispute that there are two different parties. I dispute his explanation of the two ........
parties and who represents what.

I think there is a party who wants to look long term and put real solutions in place for real people. Then there is the other half of the party that wants to latch onto republican style economics and foreign policy and appease the masses by siding with Democrats on social issues. One side wants government to be accountable to the people, the other side wants people to be accountable to the government.

the religious, and the military. What they fail to realize is that the three often work against each other.

What the repugs don't have is three separate parties. There is no doubt that Democrats have two distinct parties under the tent.

69. His party A Party B theory is bullshit
Clinton is no populist.

There is a Party A and a Party B, but it doesn't break along the lines he laid out. Party A is the group that has become very comfortable losing to Republicans, but winning enough to get the leftover scraps at the feeding trough. All they have to do is act like Republicans.

Party B is the group that believes in the bedrock issues that go back to the foundation of the Party.

In numbers, probably 80% of the common people would naturally put themselves in the B column, but usually it is not even an option because the A people have had control over the party apparatus. As remarkable and as welcome as Obama's campaign as been, it could not have been possible if we had not succeeded in getting Dean into the chairman slot. He has fundamentally changed the Party from the inside out.

In simple terms, Party A is the CLintons and the DLC. Party B is Dean, Obama and the 50-state movement.

Carville's view of the parties would make a lot more sense if his gang had not been so eager to cave into Republicans at every opportunity.

73. Thanks for the insight ... so true . . . However, PartyA/DLC is being sponsored by corporations ...
to do the things they did --- limit turn out --- ignore election steals --- ignore many of the states --- not to run opposing candidates in many races --- and move the party to the RIGHT --!!!!

THAT's what the DLC is about . . . !!!

74. Carville makes me gag
But having listened to that, he's go things spot on for the most part. I wouldn't agree with the spit on Wright, but he's got a solid bird's eye view of the situation.

78. Carville is a guttersnipe
The entire Clinton campaign has zero class. Get them off the stage.

James Carville: "If she gave him one of her cojones, they'd both have two."

I hope this ends all whining about sexism from the Clinton camp. All gutter comments about Hillary's vagina are fair game, after this. Unfortunately. Not a good day for feminists.

Indiana and North Carolina voters, end this now. Please.

Vote Obama. For civilization.
