BREAKING: Politicians tell half-truths and LIE?!?
Breaking news! Look out, the people think lawyers and politicians are liars now.

Never mind that we expect them to do a job or anything. After all, we're voting for who we like the most, right? We're not, say, voting for someone who can do the best job, are we?

I thought we learned that a candidate needed to have the best resume when we elected a C-average student last time. To say that Hillary wouldn't be a more effective president simply because she isn't as good of a politician is just a bad argument. I hear it being made de facto every day by the anti-Clinton base for Obama. This is where we're different. I'm not against Obama, I'm for Clinton.

To this base: All the scandals you could ever come up with couldn't SCRATCH the surface of what Hill has done for the country. Barack Obama's a great guy, but it's a damn political personality contest that he's winning... give up the resume battle... Run from it, even. Debates? Ack! I've done the scandal reading. I know about the Senate's war vote. I still want the most I can get out of my damn vote. I don't need the insurance companies knocking the next president around the ring like a rag doll.

This whole media mess is petty crap... all of it, Wrightgate and Bosniagate for example. In debates, Obama is good, but Clinton is great. She's been behind the scene in the legal world, a governor's office, the senate, and the damn White House. No wonder it's a personality contest... otherwise there would be no f'ing contest to have!!! I just KNOW it's going to get so petty that someone will argue that Barack's smoking picture will send the wrong message to kids or some BS like Hillary is racist that will wake people up to this fact.

If I were running, I'd have quit a long time ago... the media gets on my last nerve. Hillary has nerves of steel!! Here's to Hillary! GO GO GO.

8. Sniper fire?
I thought it was the emphatic applause from my church congregation that drowned out my voice..

Call triage, Meniscus actually burned someone.

By the Way, I like Barack, you started it.

5. Not all politicians are liars...nobody made a case that Jimmy Carter was a liar
Or for that matter George McGovern.

Yes, many politicians parse the truth. Depends what the meaning of is, is. Etc. However, when they get caught, voters have a choice as to how to handle this.

It is easy to rationalize that other politicians lie too. But if we are ever going to rise above this type of politician, we shouldn't make excuses for them. If there is going to be a change in the type of person who gets elected, the change comes FROM US! Ultimately, the reason why we have so many liars and crooks who are politicians is that these are the types of people the people often elect. They often fall for the rationalizations, even when the politicians get caught lying.

We have to start taking responsibility for the choices we make. Just as the paparatzi (sp?) who hounded Princess Di were only doing so because citizens bought the tabloids in the stores....so if there is blood on anyone's hands, it is not just the paparatzi, but on those who bought up their gossip and gave them their jobs, ultimately, in the first place.

Sorry, but it just is lame the rationalizing I see about Hillary's lies. And they are numerous. If you are going to bring George Bush into this, it wasn't George's C- grades that started the Iraq War, it was his LIES!!!!

It has to come from us, if we are going to hold our leaders responsible, or whether we will vote for them anyway. As to trying to make for a government responsible to the people based on character and integrity....it sure as hell isn't coming from Hillary!

6. Lies aren't why I'm voting.
Did you turn off the TV when they said Gore claimed he invented the internet?

Do you lie? Have you?

Yes?!?

Why should I believe that you believe your own post?!?!

All this, and they wonder why I picked my candidate based on the actual job, not the abstract contest you're referring to where it's votes - lies + speeches and campaign moments diveded by Clinton fatigue = next president.

What a crock.

16. I'm suprised.
That was the point. One doesn't have to be a liar to be called one.

Why would he let COCAINE be written in on a marijuana legalization bill, which was subsequently killed in congress? LIAR!!

Down with Carter!!

9. heh
after reading your reply I realize it should be 'damned'
I think I might be too lazy to edit it though.

Laziness... it's what let Barack take the caucus states... and you wonder why they said 'inevitable' so much about Hillary... it also makes you wonder why they say McCain is 'unelectable'

12. What, exactly, has she actually DONE for the country
Honestly, I can't for the life of me think of any significant positive achievement she has accomplished.

Maybe she has done some nice little things, but no more than many other people.

She has been in a position to make a difference and hasn't.

Edited on Sat May-03-08 11:50 PM by TahitiNut
Nope. That's not it either. She "goes along" but she doesn't "get along." Poor Nell.
