Russert spends the first 10+ minutes of MTP pastorbating...
asking the "hard questions" that have been asked of Obama and answered over and over and over again for the past two weeks. Jesus, is the media a joke or what?

I am actually surprised Obama agreed to sit with Timmy if he knew that was going to happen. Obama handled it well though.

I thought wow real questions the way it should be. Questions I didn't hear for basically the last 2 months. At least since the debate in Cleveland. I should have known the media hadn't climaxed yet on Wright, hopefully it's done.

Obama did great

It raises my blood pressure.

I know what Obama is about; I don't need to hear GOP cronies in the Corporate Media regurgitate the same old talking points against him.

I just wonder why Obama agreed to face Timmy this morning?

20. Your blood pressure...
more than likely wouldn't have gone up that much. Obama did an exceptional job and as far as I'm concerned putting this thing to rest. Obama was very poised, polite, right to the point and kept Russert tater within the framework of the questions.

I tried to watch it objectively, looking at the interview from an undecided voters vantage point and I would have walked away from watching the interview with a more favorable opinion of Obama.

I am almost glad Russert pastor-gated because it gave Obama a chance to clear the water in a very professional way. He seemed very genuine.

15. at some point more and more people will tire of the topic
and then perceive some "piling on" by the media.

Obama and his advisors knew Russert would do this and purposely are showing that he can deal with it and isn't afraid of it.

Let's get used to this stuff, we haven't seen anything yet. This prostrating moves are just to appease the media which must be done (see Gore, 2000) unless you want them to savage you on bullshit later on.

Oh, and they would come up with stuff on Hillary too and she would have to do the same sort of crap to deal with it.

and i've seen very few examples of it happening in other countries.

this would be akin to hearing about Cindy McCain's painkiller addiction and the lengths she went to to obtain her fix. but that wouldn't really help us figure out anything about John McCain would it?

19. So the next time Tim Russert is fellating John McCain
he will take the time to remove said organ, and ask HIM about "Rev" Hagee's comments following Hurricane Katrina when he said that it was punishment for the level of "sin" NOLA was allegedly harboring.

John McSame can dismiss his extreme right wing supporters as nonsense eight times over and the media considers the subject closed, but not so with Barack Obama.

Here have you helping of double standard

27. Actually, Barack sounds really good. Timmy is not setting the tone.
Barack has the upper hand with the press, now. And that's the good news.

When HRC tries to re-direct, you feel your neck twist all the way around and have to hold your breath to follow her there.

Barack makes you forget what the original question was, and where the insinuation was going. He is really good at confronting the mudslinging.

I can't remember anyone holding up against Timmy this well.

30. Russert Blackballs Arianna Huffington From Network
Edited on Sun May-04-08 09:48 AM by EV_Ares
Sources close to Arianna Huffington are claiming just that. Arianna Huffington is currently on book tour for her new political tome Right Is Wrong: How The Lunatic Fringe Hijacked America, Shredded The Constitution, And Made Us All Less Safe, in which she goes after Tim Russert (and justifiably so). She's booked all over CNN, ABC, and CBS (but not Fox News Channel because she chose not to go on there). And NBC? Well, one insider says she was booked on Keith Olberman and Morning Joe to talk about her tome -- and then unbooked. "These are shows that call her regularly to come on. And then the word came from on high that she had to be cancelled." Arianna's accolytes are pointing the finger at Tim Russert, well known to be ridiculously thin-skinned, for blackballing her internally at NBC and not permitting her on any of the NBC network or cable outlets.

It's certainly possible, considering how much clout the Washington bureau chief wields at the company (not to mention how much profit his Meet The Press yields for the company). NBC did confirm to me that Arianna Huffington won't be booked on any of the NBC network or cable shows past or present or future for her book. (Interestingly, a Knopf source says the publisher was never given a definitive no. "We were just told to 'Call back tomorrow.' There was never any explanation.") Granted Right Is Wrong is only #209 on Amazon.com, but Huffington pals are arguing to NBC it's a big book tour by a big name. "We get pitched countless books, and most of them don't make it on the air. And this one didn't," the network news spokesperson told me. The spokesperson points out that Huffington has had nasty things to say about Russert "for years" through HuffPo's RussertWatch but she's still been booked on NBC shows. "Arianna must be dialing for dollars again," the spokesperson snarked. Meanwhile, the respected Columbia Journalism Review just announced it will pick up HuffPo's RussertWatch as a regular online feature.

So what does Huffington say about Russert in her tome?

36. Eeeeewwwooo- Wierd feeling when Barack says words "George Bush."
Is it just me?

I'm settling into my sunday morning fix, listening to my new president obama, and his calm, intelligent, wise, informed dulcet tones.

Then, while discussing the reality of the gas tax holiday, he says, "No one thinks geroge bush is going to sign into law an oil profits law to pay for it."

And it was like a cold draft ran down my back. Here I was, snuggled up to my laptop, hearing the comforting, relaxing reassuring sounds and then, out comes something that just doesn't fit with the rest. He spoke the words "George Bush" as if they were in the same classification as the others.

It was like hearing a priest use the word "satanic" in the middle of a homily or prayer. It just didn't fit.

The best thing about this primary is the fact that I've restored my expectation that when I put on the sunday shows, I expect to hear honesty and sanity and integrity.

George is out.

What a relief.

If we haven't gotten Iraq to stand up in 7 years, we won't get that in 20+.

"It's not the language we need right now. It's the language of GB. Tough talk but strattegic decisions that help Iran."

We have to shift out of "cowboy diplomacy."
