Obama Has The Nomination In Hand. Please.
While there is a *possibility* that Clinton can wrest the nomination, the math tells us it is a vanishingly small possibility. Disbelief in math is a characteristic of Republicans, not Democrats.

At this point, it's best for all of us to bury the hatchet. So many of us are raw from a long and tough battle, but we need to pull together to take the White House in November. Our ability to regain the White House is a life-and-death issue for our troops in Iraq, our Middle Class, and so many others in this world. Our country has become brittle, not much unlike Germany in the late 1920s - and that didn't turn out well. We need to get back to basic and honest values to climb out of this pit together, and the Democratic Party has a monopoly on "basic and honest".

Remember, Gore lost the 2000 election by less than one one-hundredth of one percent of Florida's vote. Please keep this in mind the next time you do something that damages our chances in November, Literally, this election can be won or lost by the actions of one person on one web site - and that person could be YOU.

1. Spitzer.
All I can think of is Hillary can win if Obama implodes. Corporate media is pushing for it. Clinton will hang on until there is no hope for her.
Clinton will hang on until the convention and hope for an implosion.

2. I'm not ruling that out as her strategy, but I hope someone in that
Edited on Sun May-04-08 10:53 AM by Old Crusoe
head-up-their-hindends campaign staff sits the woman down and explains that she's stinking up the place by playing the victim card, this after the plagiarism card and Muslim card and the race card and the drugs-in-his-youth card all flopped.

A LOT of county-level Dem organizers are eager for this to congeal with Obama at the top of our ticket, as they feel that their jobs are connected to down-ballot races as well. The longer Mrs. Clinton remains in as the thrashing victim, the harder those county-level Dems' job becomes.

And at least some of 'em ain't likin' it much.

4. I live in NYS, and all the big wigs got behind Hillary early
Mostly out of fear, not love. I just ran into a Clinton SD yesterday. She told me that she really loves Obama and that she hopes that he gets the nomination. But the party (NYS Dem Party)put her up as a SD, and that she would support Clinton until she heard otherwise.

Only a handful of real courageous leaders failed to support Clinton (actually, Edwards had the most support of the non-Clintons. Obama second to that). They are loving it!

7. Edwards was a first-choice for me, too. Biden second. Maybe Obama and
Richardson third. Dodd and Kucinich would have been just fine with me aslo.

Also Gravel.

I preferred any of the other 7 originals to Sen. Clinton.

Appreciate the inside scoop you have on the bigwigs in NY. It's going to be a wild finish, and likely a bit of a pile-up.

We'd be a lot better off this spring if the media would do a responsible job between reporting events and choosing cool-browed analysts. Definitely not the case so far.

9. I see this going to the convention
All I am saying is that America gets what it deserves. I doubt America deserves a President McCain, but time alone will tell.

10. God. Let's hope that decrepid old fool never really stands a chance.
He's bad news, start to finish.

We are in a different era, I grant that. But my god we have to keep John McCain from the levers of power.

3. If that happens, we all lose in November
Edited on Sun May-04-08 10:58 AM by Tribetime
If a scandal that big happened , the party would be stained through the election.

6. Oh, I don't know
I think that the corporations (media, military, diebold, BFEE) will allow Clinton to be elected President. They may allow Obama to win, but I doubt it.

I think the BFEE would prefer Clinton to McCain. They think of MAC as their mouse that they like to beat on.

I think we can win with whoever gets the nom. As long as Obama does not implode.

14. As much as I enjoy this site I don't think WE will make or break
either of our candidates by our discussions, you are so right, the Democratic party must win this General Election. There is info posted by some really diligent people here that help all of us understand the process, etc. Your post is nice (feel good type, ha).

It truly is about Iraq, the middle class, the abuse of our Constitution by the other party, our basic rights are slipping away as I type under George.

15. This "Close Race" BS is for ratings on the tee-vee
Obama has already won the nom and McCain is even a weaker candidate that GWB, who lost twice and has made a shambles of the Republi-conned party to the point where the base won't even turn out for him.

Obama will be the next Prez, what remains to be seen is if ANYBODY can clean up Bush's mess. Good luck to him! I sure as hell wouldn't want that job.
