But then again, I don't see too many "ignored" (42 on my list) in the threads I read these days, so maybe it's ok to do it now. I dunno, maybe I'll wait until Wednesday... :scared:

8. I got rid of the tombstoned on my ignore list and cut it in half.
I figure I'll just hang onto the rest of that list until a nominee is announced and maybe I'll be able to keep from stroking out on the stupid.

9. I've only got four left on my list
I started with about 40 back in February. (I, who used to pride myself on never using that feature.) Since then, every week I'd release a few back into the wilds of GD-P, and several others on my list ate the granite cookie. Just 4 left now, and I'm holding onto them because they all have disabled profiles.

33. Go to your ignore list
and click on the name, when the profile comes up it will show a tombstone if they have been banned. The only other way to find out is if someone happens to mention that a particular poster is now eating the granite.

26. Considering that the only people on my ignore list are there because
Edited on Mon May-05-08 01:52 AM by junofeb
they generally spam with variations of the same post interjected at random even in non-primary threads, I find no point in re-instating them for the duration of the primary. They have nothing to say or teach (besides a buddha-like patience, I suppose...) and I have better things to do than wade thru their drivel.

Funny thing is, I don't miss out on much. I rarely am denied access to posts on the main page due to ignoring the poster. Which goes to show that the ones on my ignore list aren't really contributing much to this place anyways.

41. That's a comment that may be valid for you, but for me, DU is about the only
online community in which I participate. The operative word here is "community". So regardless of how impersonal the technology that brought me here is, my 6 years of interactions here have led to online "friendships" and in many cases real life acquaintances. So the experience that results is not entirely indifferent that old fashioned friendships. When that dynamic exists, the influx of trolls and disruptors is akin to nice party where a bunch of thugs show up to cause trouble. Ergo, I LOVES me my Ignore list.

30. I empty mine each Sunday evening...
then I grit my teeth and just skip by the one liner sniping and wilfull misconstruing. By mid-week I start putting people back on ignore and by the next weekend it's about the same size it was the previous week, with pretty much the same names on it. It's only about 6 or 8 users, but they're amazingly consistent in finding their way back onto the list.

Mine is presently sitting at just over the 120 mark - Mostly snipers (not that kind) and profile-less, unthinking supporters of either candidate. Or those addicted to the woo-woo koolaid of various sorts - the anti scientific crowd and members of the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Outrage - Think of the Children parish or Concern Troll division.

It keeps my blood pressure down and I don't have to get burned by teh stoopid.

39. I have never put anyone on "ignore".
I don't care which one of them wins, so what people say does not bother me a bit. I think the ones that get all uppity about their favorite politician because they are so "perfect" are hilarious! One would think that we would be more scrutinizing of politicians, regardless of who they are, especially after all we have been through. But I guess not. Call me cynical....but I prefer to remember that they are not perfect and they both have flaws. So I criticize both and praise both when they are deserving.
