What did Obama do for John Kerry and other Dems in 2004? a lot!

Another poster said he only "gave one speech" well that speech at the convention electrified the country and was one of the plusses of that convention but other than that he was also a candidate for US Senate but he still supported Kerry and other Dems and raised money for them:

With big lead in Illinois, Obama campaigns for other Democrats.

MILWAUKEE _ How far has Barack Obama risen, and how fast?

Pick your measurement: He's a state senator chosen to give a major primetime speech at his party's national convention. He is already touted as a potential president. But perhaps most telling of all: Obama has been imported to Wisconsin from neighboring Illinois to campaign for a two-term U.S. senator _ even though he has not won his own Senate seat yet.

Since his electrifying speech at the Democratic National Convention, Obama built a 45-point lead on conservative Republican Alan Keyes, giving him the leeway to apply his star power to races where Democrats face a much more uphill battle.

"Barack Obama's importance to our party and our effort to recapture the United States Senate simply cannot be overstated," said Brad Woodhouse, a spokesman for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. "This guy deserves the gold medal when it comes to the support he's provided to John Kerry, Senate candidates and our party as a whole."

Obama has contributed or helped the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee raise more than $1 million. He has given $262,000 of his own campaign money to Senate candidates in at least 13 states, even helping embattled Minority Leader Tom Daschle in his South Dakota survival match. Last weekend in the Badger State, he sought to help Sen....

Any Voters Still Up For Grabs? The Campaigns Seem To Disagree

NEW YORK, Oct. 13, 2004
In Boston, Democratic keynote speaker Barack Obama stressed unity, with phrases like "We coach Little League in the blue states and have gay friends in the red states." The Republican keynoter — Democratic Sen. Zell Miller — lashed out at Kerry, war protesters and flag burners.

Obama extends reach beyond Illinois race

In the 11 weeks since he delivered the keynote in Boston, Obama has traveled to at least 14 states to raise money and appear with fellow Democrats in close races. He has made appearances from Martha's Vineyard to the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., campaigning for a Democratic majority in Congress.

He has raised $1.2 million for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and other Senate candidates. He has donated $225,000 from his own campaign cash to the committee and to state Democratic parties in Alaska, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wisconsin, where Democrats are in close Senate races. On Friday, he will be in Los Angeles for a Senate fundraiser that is expected to net $1 million for the national party. The next day, he will visit Colorado to stump for John Kerry and Senate candidate Ken Salazar.

1. They are so deluded they don't even realize that Clinton only got into offie BECAUSE of John Kerry
and his YEARS of work uncovering IranContra and BCCI.

Then Bill gets into office and deep-sixes all the outstanding matters of GHWBush's illegal operations, siding with the secrecy and privilege of the powerful elite who Kerry worked for YEARS, risking his life and career, to expose.

3. Be interesting to see if any of them have the guts to show up in this thread.
Or the integrity to admit they were wrong if they do.

4. Me too, because several of us responded to their thread
but I guess they can't admit they are wrong in saying Obama did nothing more for Kerry than one speech.

5. Maybe they should borrow one of Hillary's many balls if
they're too chicken. I mean, Carville didn't lie about Hillary having several, as far as I know. :)

8. Hillary also, at the time
had far greater pull, and more to give (IMO) than a person who was running for senate, that before that year, relatively few had heard of.

9. my guess is that both Obama and Hillary both campaigned for Kerry
but the poster who wrote that other thread said he didn't do anything other than "one speech" without doing any research and so I had to dispute that. That Obama did as much as he did for Dems while still running for office in IL says a lot for him.

11. Obama did a lot for Lieberman in 2006 too

Obama rallies state Democrats, throws support behind Lieberman

By Stephanie Reitz, Associated Press Writer | March 31, 2006

HARTFORD, Conn. --U.S. Sen. Barack Obama rallied Connecticut Democrats at their annual dinner Thursday night, throwing his support behind mentor and Senate colleague Joe Lieberman.

Obama, an Illinois Democrat who is considered a rising star in the party, was the keynote speaker at the annual Jefferson Jackson Bailey Dinner.

Lieberman, Connecticut's junior senator, is under fire from some liberal Democrats for his support of the Iraq War. He was key in booking Obama, who routinely receives more than 200 speaking invitations each week.

Some at Thursday's dinner said that while they were pleased with Lieberman's success in bringing Obama to Connecticut, they still consider Lieberman uncomfortably tolerant of the Bush administration.

Obama wasted little time getting to that point, calling it the "elephant in the room" but praising Lieberman's intellect, character and qualifications.

"The fact of the matter is, I know some in the party have differences with Joe. I'm going to go ahead and say it," Obama told the 1,700-plus party members who gathered in a ballroom at the Connecticut Convention Center for the $175-per-head fundraiser.

"I am absolutely certain Connecticut is going to have the good sense to send Joe Lieberman back to the U.S. Senate so he can continue to serve on our behalf," he said.

Lieberman became Obama's mentor when Obama was sworn into the Senate in 2005. They stayed close at Thursday night's event, too, entering the room together and working the crowd in tandem.

Despite the camaraderie between the two, the crowd was clearly more receptive to Obama's remarks than Lieberman's speech about party unity and the potential for Democratic victories at the ballot box this fall.

In fact, scattered boos greeted Lieberman when he took the podium, and he had to stop three times during his remarks to shush the crowd so he could deliver key points.

Ned Lamont, a Democratic activist and anti-war candidate from Greenwich, is challenging Lieberman for the party's nomination this year. Legions of supporters of Lieberman and Lamont both attended the dinner.

12. Here we go again. So did Hillary and Bill, in fact, Bill had a big rally for Joe
a week before the primary. Obama then helped Lamont after the primary:

http://www.boston.com/news/local/connecticut/articles/2006/10/26/lamont_gets_lift_from_obama_lieberman_campaigns_with_landrieu/

Lamont aides said they welcomed the support of Obama, who has enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent weeks as speculation about his national ambitions mounts.

"He's a very credible, charismatic and inspiring politician," said senior Lamont adviser Tom D'Amore. "We're thrilled to have his support.

Obama has also given $5,000 to Lamont's campaign through a political committee

And who did Lamont endorse this year? Hillary or Obama? Obama.
