Why cant Obama close the deal? I call BULLSHIT on that question.
Clinton came into this thing as the odds on favorite / inevitable candidate. She had the money, the ingrained support, the media on her side and she STILL managed to fuck it up. She's losing to a little known 1st term US senator from IL that didnt follow her "plan" to the Presidency. Why cant Obama close the deal? Thats the WRONG argument. Why cant the "inevitable" candidate close the deal... THATS the question.

Please. She's gone from the certain winner to the outspent underdog. I.E. People have given her less money.

So, ok. A CLINTON is an underdog in this race? Oh, I forgot, she thinks we're stupid.

And she's counting on the stupid vote, just like Bush did on 2004. We at DU made fun of those morans, remember? Now some have become what they hate. Sad.

1. It's a ridiculous argument. Clinton hasn't "closed the deal" either - it's just a stupid thing to
say.

royally fuck up the deal."

That just out of decorum and deference to her experience and self denial, hes been too polite to burst her bubble personally.

25. my point was to prove how ridiculous that argument is.
Why cant he seal the deal?

I'm sure that if he had he name recognition and ingrained support he could have sealed the deal. Why hasnt she? Shes the rockstar. Mine is the better question.

The rockstar cant chase the rookie out of the deal.

Who does that reflect upon? Not the rookie!

8. Well, Hillary did have a ton of money to start with and huge name recognition among Democrats.
The nomination was supposed to be hers for the having. Why didn't she crush Obama like a bug? If her ideas and candidacy were superior, then she should have.

10. Typical Rove tactic to push one's own weakness on the other candidate -- SHE can't win
So that becomes "he can't close the deal".

13. Reply: Hillary had two major bases of support thrown out
when we threw out Florida and Michigan. It's like if we threw out Illinois and then couldn't figure out why Obama was behind.

18. She could have easily closed the deal in Iowa
When he won, he opened the New Deal, and it's the long, long trek to the finish line, he knew it from Day Iowa+1.

23. I think subconciously, there's a sexual motive behind such an analysis.
It really sounds like Tweety & his assorted copycats on TV are describing a dating relationship that never quite gets to that "third date." Given the fact that it's Joe Scarborough & Wolf Blitzer who keep on saying "can't close the deal" to me night after night, I'm starting to find that figure of speech more revolting than offensive.

I would be more concerned about passing out at a McCain rally. Imagine waking up next to David Vitter and realizing you're only wearing diapers! Who the hell took my wallet?

24. It's a BS question when put to either candidate.
Two very popular Dems are splitting the vote. It's disingenuous to call this a failing of either one.

Unless, of course, that position were ever supported by substance, such as by asking why both have failed to take a progressive stance on every issue. That's how, IMO, one of them could have run away with the nomination.
