Office gossip from today
Today I learned not to vote for Obama because Rev. Wright said "god damn america". I said "what was the context" and my co-worker said "Louis Farrakan type stuff". Then we talked about McCain and my boss thought that someone who has been though what he has been through shouldn't be president.

Disappointing that Obama is being defined by Rev Wright to these people. This guy seems to have a direct channel into the state of the art bullshit that military people tell themselves to get through it all. But he is conflicted because of his reasonable side. He tends to get the bigger picture but then fall for the next line of bullshit that comes along, like he can't smell it coming by now.

1. Obama is being defined by the corporate media
Wright is just a tool they use

3. Question to ask tomorrow
Is Rev Wright running for President? If he is then his comments might matter in this election cycle. If he is not, then he is entitled to his opinion and free speech just like the rest of us.

Also if your co-worker attends church, do they agree with everything their minister (or whatever) says? If not, why have they not left the church and denounced the minister?

13. how bizarre
as a matter of fact i asked just that, and he said if those things were said in his church, he would have walked out. The he said Oprah was trying to distance herself from Reverend Wright also. And then he mentioned some military division his church had sent care packages to that came to the church and thanked them. like i said, he is tied into some arm of the military religions bullshit factory. he ends up seeing through it, but then just falls for the next one like the last one never happened.

14. Good Luck
There are those that cannot see, even if you turn the light on for them. This country has far more serious issues than whatever Rev Wright did or didn't say (I have actually never heard him, because I really don't care what he said and will not waste my time on it). Some folks get tied up in the "gotcha" world of flag pin journalism and you cannot get them past it. My choice was neither Obama or HRC, but they are what we have left at the end of the process now and we need to make intelligent choices based upon what we think is the best direction for the future, based upon the persons, the policies and our best judgement. We are hiring a President to run the country, not someone to be our spiritual leader or moral compass.

Again .... Good Luck

Simple enough.

5. McCain: "The Manchurian Candidate"
Yeah, what THAT guy has been through prepares him for being president ...
maybe not so much, if you've seen the movie.

8. You'll have to do better if your best argument against McCain is this movie you saw once
It's not like it's hard to come up with legitimate, intelligent reasons why McCain would be a disaster of Bushian proportions if he got into the White House. Why must you base your assessment on a fictional movie?

9. This was a joke -- but it's the same line Repugs have used for years
"He's been tortured, he's crazy, he's a loose cannon ... "

Those same arguments will be made again this time, only expanded
upon with more backup (people in the military community -- active
and retired -- will express their doubts about his temperament
and suitability to be commander-in-chief).

7. Hell, amongst my ex's family, he's still being defined as either
the scary, skinny black guy, or the MUSLIM with the crazy name.

Im so embarrassed. For my kids, that is.

10. mini-history
Tell em, as Morpheus told Neo... That they may not like it, but the 'news' they get is rigged. Journalism left the building long ago, and they have been fed bad juju about Obama. If they trust you, they'll listen to your informed position - cause you really care about the middle class - the same class they belong to.

Then buy them a copy of 'Screwed'...

:)
