1. when gas
was less than 1/3 the cost it is now and the deficit was larger, as a percent of GDP, than it is now. Incidently, he actually asked for a carbon tax but had to settle for a gas tax. Some of us remember the 1990's so please, either read a book, or don't post about the 1990's.

3. The lowest price I paid at the pump was $.19

I'm not THAT old.

The in 1973-1974, OPEC decided that, hmm, they would like some of their money. So it went up from $.25 a gallon to $.50. God forbid that the oil companies would share anything they were used to raking in. People were PISSED.

And it took it another TEN YEARS to double again.

Then, in 1997, I paid $.82 a gallon. EIGHTY-TWO CENTS 11 years ago. Of course, a lot of mid-management oil and gas guys couldn't get a job in the industry.

So in the last 11 years, we've gone from $.82 (actually, I bought it lower than that during that period) to quadruple under shrubbie.

Mission accomplished? I think so.

7. Your point makes no sense
That was then, it wasn't her, and it's a temporary suspension to help people in the face of skyrocketing prices.

Nothing holds up.

8. Wholesale gas tax, not retail
and it was at a time when prices were low and competition high.
