Just asking. If you can't afford a car already, you're not gonna save anything on gas, with or without, federal taxes.

1. You bring up another good point. Insurance rates going up because of less highway maintenance.
Don't think they won't do it. They're sure as shit not going to pay for the accidents that result from roads not being maintained.

2. What's to stop them from pulling a "Walmart"?
Sale price on gas, raise the price on motor oil, or any of the other 1,000,000,000 ways they have figured out to play the shell game. Nobody is saving anything, this was a foolish move on Hillary's part. Most sensible people see right through this BS.

3. More importantly... to save that $30 dollars
you have to spend more than $567 just to buy the gasoline (minus the gas tax).

4. I drive 35 miles each way, daily, to work, right now.
My car gets 28 mpg.

So, I'll save, uhm, what?

7. At over 30 mpg and little driving, for me it would maybe be $20 for the summer.
Give me a break! That doesn't even fill 2/3 of my tank.

9. I currently work from home
and drive to town very seldom.

I need to fill up my truck soon, but then the last time I filled up was right after the January 1st. It's a big tank (20 gallons). The truck gets decent mileage. I go to town about once every other week (20 miles roundtrip).

If there was a "holiday" I figure it would save me $5 for the summer (it's a diesel truck, and I do make my own biodiesel 50/50 blend).

6. my premium is $50 a month times 2 cars and I'm 2 times 25 years old...

and, people are driving because I was just in Atlanta over the weekend and the bypass was more crowded than usual for a Sunday afternoon. No gas problem there at 3.55/gal., methinks.....but then again, that was Cobb County so 30.00 is pocket change to them....
