by way of mimic. If we are to move beyond the mainstays of the past and into a world of 'hope & change'; then we *must* be prepared to realign our icons with what is perceived to be new, fresh, fly icons

1. And exactly what does Wright's mimicry have to do with Obama?
Apart from the fact that he was making a salient point about linguistics, he was not speaking on Obama's behalf, yet people keep wanting to equate Wright's statements with Obama's position. Why?

To make such an aspersion against any person is considered stoo'pit at best :eyes: Not to mention a guy that had is head shot to pieces for trying to do what is right

5. Eddie Izzard used JFK's "Ich bin ein Berliner" line in a joke
Edited on Tue May-06-08 03:40 AM by CakeGrrl
To make the point that JFK literally told the German people that he was a doughnut. Should we pull out the knives for him for defiling an historical icon?

:eyes:

I'm guessing you won't be receptive to the CONTEXT in which Wright mimicked the JFK accent since your OP makes the reach to continue to link the two men to prop up the 'guilt by association' charge in the first place. Obama isn't calling for anyone to make fun of historical icons, much as you'd like to imply otherwise.

he's a player...he's a pastor by his own say-so. Not an actor that I would pay 2-bits to see on a stage somewhere. THAT...was ridicule. And it is well past time for DU to suck-it-up like buttermilk and wrap their heads around it period

All to cover his lying ass at the expense of everyone else?

elicits these types of comments from her supporters. Just submit peacefully already and all will be well. Ten years from now a street near your home might be named after Obama finishes his two terms as President. Your grandchildren might even go to a Barack H. Obama High School. When Hillary goes on speaking engagements people will want to know what it was like to shake the hand of President Obama.

45. I understand what you're saying, and you're being most kind, but...
and this is only an overview with respect to imitating regional dialectic, still...when a witness at the OJ trial said they heard a black voice? Johnny Cochran splintered most profoundly, most eloquently, most laden with gravitas up and into the air berating then not merely the court: but the witness, and all within his sound of his voice, which was vast; that to assert such a thing was beyond what is acceptable in civil matters. That it is not possible to ascertain the origin of a persons nationality, or ethnic origin by hearing what one thought one heard based upon what he aspersed from a position of distance, and yes, perhaps even...bigotry.

I'm going to follow Johnny Cochran on this one
