Obama's tax cut for middle class and ordinary folk to met gas prices

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/09/18/obama.taxplan/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday proposed overhauling the tax code to lower taxes for the poor and middle class, increase them for the rich and make it so most Americans can file their taxes in five minutes.

Sen. Barack Obama delivers his tax overhaul plan Tuesday in Washington.

The tax relief plan he envisions for the middle class alone would mean $80 billion or more in tax cuts, he said.

Obama, an Illinois Democrat who is a front-runner for his party's 2008 presidential nomination, said during a speech at the Tax Policy Center that the present tax code reflects the wrong priorities because it rewards wealth instead of work.

"Instead of having all of us pay our fair share, we've got over $1 trillion worth of loopholes in the corporate tax code," he said. "This isn't the invisible hand of the market at work. It's the successful work of special interests." Watch Obama unveil his tax plan »

So that's safer roads with the gas tax, and fuller pockets with a wage tax cut. The logical method to economic woes. Note Hillary doesn't plan these cuts orrestructuring.

5. $80 billion in tax cuts?
Edited on Tue May-06-08 05:20 AM by Uben
How's he paying for it? Talk about republican tactics, this is a page right outta the Bush handbook. Trying to lure voters by promising cuts that aren't paid for is just increasing the debt. We need responsible fiscal minds in the whitehouse, not pipe dreams.

Edited on Tue May-06-08 05:46 AM by barack the house
Obama was the first senator to draft legislation to give oversight on contractors. His stand on black water is temporary as soldiers will get rest time during breaks for tours, there is also low sign up. His plan will lower funding to contractors overall and move that to military soldiers.

9. So?
How is he paying for $80 billion in tax cuts? That's about $1000 per family of four in new debt. Sounds exactly like what the republicans have been doing and not what a fiscally responsible president would do. OPbama is just doing what all politicians do, promise you the moon, and deliver nothing.

HAve either of the candidates explained how they will pay down the national debt? No. They won't touch it. All I have heard are promises to increase the debt with no solution on how to remedy the already over-burdening of debt to Americans. That's politics as usual, not change, not hope.

Obama. Where is the money coming from? Direct me to that spot on his site that shows how he's paying for it. That represents a new debt of about $1000 for a family of four. God forbid you actually answer a fucking question!

23. Dumb ass question.
The answer is no. I am a democrat. I vote for the nominee, regardless.

I am not an Obamunist who sits around singing cumbaya waiting for the hope and change that never comes. Another $50 billion tax cut only serves to increase the debt we already owe. That's what we have had the last seven years. That is not change, it's more of the same!

I am a successful businessman who just wants our kids to have the same opportunities I had growing up. That will not happen if we continue to let the debt grow.

How do you plan on celebrating Hillary's post-campaign-back-to-the-Senate party? Some people just don't have what it takes to be President of the USA. At least she has $2.3 BILLION worth of earmark requests to fall back on.

{Kind of feel dumb talking about Obama and an unbalanced budget when Hillary has $2.3 billion worth of earmark requests, don't you?}

Edited on Tue May-06-08 12:50 PM by barack the house
The wealthy in society are getting more of the benefit of society so their tax share raises logically. The Democrat party has always had this policy Republicans are the party that place tax burden more on ordinary folk and middle class.
