How will Obama lower gas prices? …. World Peace!
Edited on Tue May-06-08 08:15 AM by platosrepublic
One thing i think the media overlooks and forgets is the political power and appeal President / Senator Obama has around the world; from Africa to Japan to Europe. Every one is for Obama, and for good reasons too; he is one of the only politicians that ever ran for office that does not act as a bully or an elitist. He is one of us, and people around the world can fell that from him; imagine the state of the country and the state of the world when he gets elected. I think this story gives a great insight as to what kind of president Obama will be; and how he will fix the root of the problem and not just a bandage solution (the McCain / Clinton tax Holiday)

Meanwhile, in his spare time...

...Obama seems to have brought peace to the Niger Delta. No joke.

Reuters:

Rebels who have stepped up attacks on Nigeria's oil industry in the last month said on Sunday they were considering a ceasefire appeal by U.S. presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has launched five attacks on oil facilities in the Niger Delta since it resumed a campaign of violence in April, forcing Royal Dutch Shell to shut more than 164,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd).

"The MEND command is seriously considering a temporary ceasefire appeal by Senator Barack Obama. Obama is someone we respect and hold in high esteem," the militant group said in an e-mailed statement.

1. I think the concept may be too complex for most people.
I expect no media coverage of this whatsoever; they'll continue talking about saving 30 bucks of gas over three months. No one is talking about how much the rest of the world wants Obama to be our president.

Excellent work Obama. :bounce:

4. It's called leadership; getting people to do what you want without forcing or demanding.

It isn't anything he will 'do' - it's just how he is; he has a natural ability. The world has been suffering under Bush for 8 years just as we have and they see Obama as a new beginning. His election will automatically give the US an improved standing which he will use to facilitate change.

7. The wars and threat of wars in the Mideast have caused oil to skyrocket
Any time the flow of oil is either limited, or threatened, the price of oil goes up. It goes up both due to speculation and due to countries and industries that have to secure their uninterrupted flow of oil.

Right now, the price of oil is probably $20-$40 a barrel higher than it would be in a world without wars in the Mideast and threats of war against Iran.

The other big factor is the demand of India and China, which are a direct result of our complete abdication of our servicing our own demand in the US. They call it free trade, but there's nothing free about it. In fact, it's trade that punishes American manufacturers and workers.
