GOP "Truth Squad" Heading to Boston
This is over in the Minnesota forum because that weasel Coleman is part of this gang. I thought it needed wider distribution.

http://www.startribune.com/stories/484/4885949.html

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., will go to the Democratic National Convention next week to criticize the party's presumptive nominee, Sen. John Kerry, and defend President Bush. Coleman will be part of a team of GOP senators, including Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, John Cornyn of Texas and Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

"The focus should always be the record," Coleman said. "If questions get raised, I'll be in a position to say, 'Here is the record,' and let Americans make their choice."

Coleman said he will make himself available for TV, radio and print interviews to counter what Democrats say. (I have a mental picture of Normie chasing cameramen in a desperate attempt to get himself heard...and the cameramen running from him.)

Kerry spokesman Bill Burton said Coleman, a former Democrat, is in no position to talk about changing positions. "Minnesota has seen fewer larger flip-flops than Norm Coleman's entire career -- as a Democrat, as a Republican, as a Clinton supporter, then as a Bush supporter," Burton said.

The Bush campaign and the Republican National Committee are arranging the GOP presence at the Democrats' convention.

8. From the DFL's website:
http://www.dfl.org

"We must come together as Democrats to support President Bill Clinton and Senator Paul Wellstone."

- Norm Coleman, DFL state convention, 1996

“George Bush sending the master flip-flopper himself – Norm Coleman – to attack John Kerry’s record of public service is the absolute height of hypocrisy. Coleman led Clinton-Gore’s Minnesota campaign in 1996, and then he supported George Bush in 2000. Coleman supported Skip Humphrey, worked as his chief deputy, and then ran against him. Coleman supported Paul Wellstone, and then ran against him,” said Minnesota Democratic Party Chairman Mike Erlandson. “Is Coleman the junior Senator from Massachusetts now? Norm should be working for the people of Minnesota, not doing George Bush's political dirty work.”

Coleman’s hypocrisy knows no bounds. At the recent Minnesota GOP convention Coleman effusively praised late President Ronald Reagan, but he strongly supported both Walter Mondale and Jimmy Carter over Reagan.

Erlandson added, “Sadly, no one in Minnesota would be too surprised to find Norm Coleman campaigning for the re-election of President John Kerry and Vice President John Edwards in 2008. Anything Norm Coleman has to say about John Kerry’s distinguished record of public service isn’t worth listening to.”

9. Ten truths I know about the Cheap Labor Conservatives (a.k.a. my 1st post)
Edited on Wed Jul-21-04 11:51 PM by Chipperback35
Before I begin, this bein' my first post and all. I'm a midwestern Democrat, living on the East Coast in exile. I love my God. I love my family. I love my country.

I supported Dennis Kucinich during the primaries proudly. I respected his progressive message that was in tune with the prairie leanings I hold. I hope John Kerry and John Edwards pick up on some of that energy as we charge into months ahead.

I don't have to tell you all the fight we will be in. Lurking at DU for the last few months, many of you are keenly aware of our adversary. The Cheap Labor Conservatives will go to any lengths to win, and their victory is a loss for my country.

I hear that the Grand Old Party plans to send a Conservative Truth Squad to Boston. Here are some truths they can look up in their Funk and Wagnalls.

1. The Conservatives will use their power against the average American at every opportunity if it doesn't benefit them or their friends.
Why do you think there isn't expanded health care or the "Helluva Lotta Children Left Behind" Act? It doesn't benefit them.
Why are we at "war"? It benefits them. Just ask Dick Cheney.

2. They are the party of "Big Government".
What is the biggest Government program right now?
Medicare? nope.
Welfare? nope.
War On Terrorism? Bingo.

What have we gotten for our money? Osama's still at large. We've wasted a lot of political capital worldwide and here at home we have another group of federal bureaucracies tied to one massive bureaucracy (KGBAmerica or the Department of Homeland Security).

And they talk about the way Democrat spend? Look at how much the GOP's spending on the occupation alone and now they are saying we don't have enough troops and equipment.

Never mind that the Cheap Labor Conservatives use more government programs than anybody. What the heck do you think bolsters the corporate aims of many of them? If you guessed Government, you are right.

3. The Cheap Labor Conservatives are modern day Pharisees
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are Ravening Wolves" (Matthew 7:15)

As a Christian, it makes the seeth to see those Fox News money changers outside the temple of worship peddling agendas they know wouldn't pass the WWJD test, and say that its all about the Lord.

I don't think my Lord would be for war based on lines. I don't think He appreciates curtailing access to medical care or not fixing a school or community center among the poorer neighboorhood's of the flock.

And don't think my Lord supports discrimination.
We Democrats of faith need to stand up, especially when those faith-hustling hypocrisy pimps come calling on a Sunday morning.

How are you going to shout "family values" yet kill virtually every piece of family-centered legislation you get? I understand what "faith-based initiatives" are to a Republican. Have faith that we won't consider your initiative unless its based on benefitting US.

4. Cheap Labor Conservatives LOVE Welfare.
Heck yeah, they love that welfare. Just ask Halliburton and Carlyle Group and WorldCom. (IraqiFreedomWelfare)

Ask the Pentagon (Rockwell-fare)
Ask Diebold and ABT (FixTheVoteWelfare/KGBAmericaWelfare)

I could go on, but you get the picture.
If it makes Dick Cheney rich its fine, right and American.
If it gives you a student loan, or housing opportunity or helps you get you back on your feet, protects your savings or helps you see a doctor, its "Big Government Tyrrany".

5. Conservatives engage in Crass Warfare.
Our adversary says we like class warfare. I say its Class vs. Crass.

I am a skilled media professional. I make a wage, I pay my taxes, I manage to invest a little, but in real terms I'm a worker and I'm damn proud of it.
It against my class interest to vote for an economic platform that gives the largesse to people on the top and tell me it trickles down when real world experience shows that in many cases it doesn't trickle down, in fact it either moves the money to the Caymans (to avoid the taxes) or moves the jobs to India, Mexico, Guatemala, or whatever low wage haven they can put them.
And it isn't just the hard core manufacturing gig. It's the science, infotech, programmers and such too.

And for those of us who haven't been moved, we find our benefits cut or cancelled. Overtime cut or cancelled. The 40-hour work week? are you kidding? Family leave? That could be the next they'll want to rolled back. And God help you if you are working and poor, and those ranks are growing.

Working Class, Middle Class, whatever class
vs.
The fast-track, no-slack, if you work for a living get the hell on back, low-pay, okay but wanna live like Kenny Boy Lay Crass.

My grandfather always told me that if something was trickling down, you are either being rained on or pissed on, and with a Republican, its usually the latter.

6. They'll Lie Cheat and Steal, and they know it.
The last four years proved that.
The stole and cheated in 2000 so they could get the power.
They lied to us in 2003 so they could get the oil money.

7. Conservatives find it easy to be brave with another man's body.
I find it interesting that all these hawks called Bill Clinton a Draft Dodger, when 99.99% of them found an excuse to duck out of their turn in camoflage.
When these people banged the drum of war, sending troops into harms way for Halliburton it gives a bad stain to Duty, Honor and Country.
The stains even worse when those banging that drum, missed their duty to honor their country with their service.
It even worse when our "war president" skipped his turn for 18 months.

8. Conservatives Are Like Scared Children In A Bedroom.
A conservative in many cases MUST HAVE A BOOGIEMAN.
They are afraid of just about anything that isn't white and straight.

I'm 100% convinced of this. For all the tough jingo lingo of your Fox Newshawk Conservative, they'll cringe in horror of they see two men kissing, or OH MY GOD, THEY'RE GETTING MARRIED.

Now to be fair, there are a few black conservatives (being black and relatively conservative myself, however there is no way I could sign on the backward agenda that conservatism has become.), there are some latino, asian, pacific-islander, native american, and day I say gay conservatives, but to many of our opposition such folks must be made enemies.

This is why Affirmative Action has to be Negative Inaction. This is why some of them cry "reverse discrimination"

This is why marriage needs to be "Defended"

9. They'll seek any means to limit debate, limit dissent and limit the electoral process.
How they limit debate: Go on a TV show vs. A Conservative and you quickly find they aren't trained in civil discourse. They are trained to shout you down and intellectually bludgeon.

How they limit dissent: PATRIOT ACT I. PATRIOT ACT II. and there's a PATRIOT ACT III in the works.

How they limit the electoral process: Poll Taxes, Reading Test, Intimidation, Attempts to repeal or annul voting rights (Reagan), contract somebody to scrub the voters in districts you can't win (see also Harris, Katherine)

10. Our adversary has to be the best darn salesman alive, because their product is crap.

When it all comes down to it. They are selling the relic of a bygone age. They are selling the Lord-Serf feudal society, with a coat of arms emblazoned with corporate logos, instead of nobility logos.

They want a return to divine right to rule, except Money and Power are the divinity they choose.

They want to roll back every principle our nation was founded on and and sell that roll back as our "Traditional American Values" when the truth is its a return to Traditional Old European Feudalistic Values.

The American Choice In 2004 Is Forward Versus Backward. WHICH WAY DO YOU WANT TO GO?????
