There are 'Low Information Voters' on both sides of the primary fence.
I do lots of GOTV, so trust me on this.

I think insulting a voter's intellect because they choose to vote for a candidate by some metric we disagree with is silly. You need to make the effort to connect with the voter's values, to address the things they care about. If you can't do that, they won't vote for you. The onus is on the candidate and on the candidate's supporters to do this. No one owes your guy their vote. I don't think that insulting the voter's intellect is an effective persuasion tactic either.

And if you don't persuade enough people, you lose. End of story. Your fault, not the voters.

The bottom line is, we will need the rural dem and the urban dems to win in November, the low info voters and elitists. We need them all.

1. On your GOTV contacts, do you ever try to educate? Is it tough to figure...
...out how far to push without pissing them off?

2. GOTV is not about education: it's purely getting supporters to the polls
which shows the OP doesn't know what they are talking about (low information??).

"Low information" voters is a technical term that has been culled from the polling data. The bulk of low info voters go to Clinton. That is not a fact that is disputable, just as it is not disputable that most of the African American vote is going to Obama. Hillary wouldn't be using her "elitist" lines and proposing a gas tax holiday if she thought her base voters were high information.

5. Here on DU, Low Information Voter is a term that is used to insult
rural Hillary voting dems. And now you are insulting me after I spent most of the past week doing GOTV for Obama and much of he past four years doing GOTV for my local groups. How sweet.

3. It depends.
I try to talk to them as much as I can, but if I sense impatience, I am off in a flash.

6. What's low about low information voters?
Edited on Tue May-06-08 03:39 PM by rocknation
Their low ability to absorb or retain information? Or their low interest in it?

Most important, CAN they be bought the the price of a half a tank of gas?

7. lol, don't know, guess you would have to consult an elite expert to find out.
And as far as the half tank of gas, I would guess it would depend on how much the voter values that half tank of gas, and how well the other campaign was able to communicate that it is a bad deal.
