I'm eating raw carrots
because they crunch. cause I'm full of anticipation.

it is after 6pm in Bloomington, Indiana. I would like this state to happily surprise me once before I move out of Indiana and be the state to cinch the nomination for Obama.

either way, I feel like I've been on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride in gd-p this week. I don't know how all you stalwarts who spend lots of time here do it.

local NBC affiliate said result for Marion Co. (Indy) will not be available till 8pm because turn out is like a general election and they have lots of absentee ballots.

if you're a foodie, I should find some recipes. My ex's grandmom used to cook for priests and my ex s-i-l went to cooking school. But it's Belgian cuisine - a lot like French.

Very cool and I love the cheese grating option.

I live in a very small space, so utensils that serve multiple purposes are always a great treasure for me.

I will look for one next time I get to town. Any recipes or recipe sources greatly appreciated!

16. The disturbing truth about those 'baby carrots'.
They're actually cosmetically flawed adult carrots that go through a 'carrot lathe' and are turned into those little carrot M&M's.

Sorry. I know how shocked I was when I found that out...

I guess it's better than disposing of the cosmetically flawed adult carrots. They seem tastier - sweeter and softer. Is that just in my head? Have I been duped?

12. So not true, peacebird.
Celery is a negative calorie food...you burn more energy eating it than it contains, so the more you chew, the more you eliminate the calories in that brew.

13. Bloomington is more like Eugene than any place in IN
Even tho Eugene is Oregon. I am applying for jobs in WA.

You'd actually like Bloomington very much. Ppl in Indiana call it "The people's republic of Bloomington," so that gives you a good idea of the political climate here.

it's one of those "creative class" towns. moved here when my ex took a job at IU. leaving here this year (hopefully, b/c that means I have a decent job.)

Got my psych degree there. I tell you for a town that's about 1/5 the size of Tucson, Bloomington had WAY more going on at night. It's a pretty cool town. Definately two sides to the tracks tehre though I think the college will carry Monroe for Obama.

You know what's really good with carrots? Tahini! Delicious!

You know what else is good with tahini? Turkey sandwhich with cheddar cheese and tahini. It's unbelievable!

yeah, Bloomington's big problem is a captive job mkt with 40k students who potentially will work for min. wage.

53. Well, It WAS quite a night/day
not going to waste a new post on this... those who wanna read it will find it, says this ninja (long story.) Just my thoughts after yesterday.

However, it was thrilling to see Indiana as part of the nominating process for the democratic candidate. Even tho I would like for the nail-biting stomach churning still possible upset who knows to be over, I can understand full well the benefit of all states participating in this process. For those of you in MI and FL who will jump on this remark - all I can tell you is that I am sorry your state made the choices it did. My state made choices too, such as new voter i.d. laws that we all had to abide by.. and we did or our votes didn't count.

I stayed up until the race was called for Clinton. I stayed up while the Gary guy was grandstanding. I cringed as he gave any fuel to any fear that this race would have a hint of dirty tricks from the Obama side. As I've posted elsewhere on this thread-

Hillary's precincts came in early and from the moment the first 1% of the votes were counted, Hillary continued to lose her lead. The Obama areas of the state had HUGE turnouts. Hillary won. But she lost. And she lost before Gary was ever reported because her expected/anticipated win was already lower than the expectation BEFORE Gary reported Lake Co. votes.

This was in the state in which Hillary's vp-wanna be was pulling every string he could to make IN a winner for her. He couldn't do it. He couldn't convince enough people in the state that he represents to vote for Hillary Clinton.

The numbers for the Clinton campaign in IN were also interesting. Obama carried 87% of ALL VOTERS under the age of 65. That's white, black, female, male... that's not one group of Af-Am voters in Lake Co.

In addition, Dan Burton noted on the local NBC affiliate that his primary win wasn't as big as he expected because the turnout of republicans in their primary was low. HE noted this low republican-primary turn out in IN was most likely a result of republicans who crossed over to vote in the democratic primary. Limbaugh supporters ADMITTED they voted for Hillary in order to run against her. Burton may have tried to spin low Republican turn out to distract from something else, of course: that Indiana republicans have had it with the Bush republican party - at least at the national level. there are quite a few libertarian republicans in Indiana (Cato Institute is here) and they consistently opposed the Iraq invasion.

And, although he is not universally loved here, last night was an example of Dean's 50 state strategy in action. Every state has a stake. Every state has a reason for people to be involved in the process of democracy.

Via North Carolina, last night was a demonstration of the necessity for verifiable voting, no matter what candidate you support. That's why so many Obama supporters voted early in Indiana. btw. At least 20k of them. Because we have had voting machines with no paper trial for decades. I would like to see the outcome of races in which votes can actually be checked. We might be more of a democracy than we realize.

and living on fixed/retirement income fears as Bush continues to bankrupt the economy. They voted for what they knew.

Those same voters are not going to turn around and vote for McCain.
